Fruitcake and Eggnog. Yay or Nay?

Fruitcake and eggnog. Like or dislike?

My thoughts

I haven't had a gift of fruitcake in years but...no. Nope. All those candied fruits?! And all the fruitcakes I've received weighed a ton! (They could be used as door stops or a weapon. Ha!)

Eggnog...again, nope. Eggnog is too rich, thick, sweet..to me its cloying.

What do think about fruitcake and eggnog?

I like fruitcake but I don't like Christmas cake with to much brandy added to it. If you get a good Christmas cake it really does taste nice. They make a good one at a pudding place here. Don't like eggnog. I did have a beautiful Cocktail on Monday called a 'Bubblegum' and it consisted of milk and crushed ice, and I can't remember what the bar woman told me what was in it.

I'm in the, I don't like either of those things camp, so it's a double nay from me. The idea of drinking raw eggs and eating old rubber fruit does not say Merry Christmas to my appetite.

I love thick, rich eggnog. Nutmeg, with optional rum or bourbon - yum.

It's been years since I've had fruitcake. I'm sure there's ways to make it that are delicious. I just haven't experienced them.

I've never had fruitcake, so I can't weigh in there. Eggnog...meh. It's okay in TINY amounts; it's just too thick and sweet for me to enjoy except as a little bit to flavour coffee or used in making cookies.

I don't like fruit cake, blech... and have never tasted Eggnog.

I like a good fruitcake. It's been years since I had any though. Nay on the eggnog. To sweet for me.

I do NOT like candied fruit. I used to try to pick it out of the cake. I like the rum soaked cake, I wish you could buy fruitcake without the fruit lol. I adore eggnog though

I like my home made fruit cake. I haven't been able to eat any store bought since developing my allergies. People put nuts in them. (Pre-allergies I never liked nuts in my fruit cake.)

When I make them, it's very expensive because I have both my Mom's recipes and I have to make both because I like the dark and my husband likes the light.

My mom passed away in 1988. About 12 years later I finally tried making her fruit cake. It turned out fabulous. I'm not big on socializing with my siblings, but that year I invited everyone over during the holidays. I put out a plate of cookies, which included the fruit cake, and I watched. Everyone always likes my cookies because they are what we grew up on.

My brother took a piece of fruit cake, and took a bite. Then he closed his eyes, and just had the most amazing look on his face. He picked up the plate and insisted our other brother and sister try it. One said "No, I only like mom's fruitcake" eventually he tried it.

Everyone agreed, it was like having mom back for the holiday.

I don't like egg nog but will have a tiny bit if the family is all drinking it.

I was going to put a John Pinette clip....but all the ones with "nay nay" also have swear words.
