Hey everyone. I was wondering if someone could tell me if (or how to tell if) this is a genuine note written and signed by SK? I found it in with some old letters of mine from the early 90s.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

It does look like his handwriting but the color is throwing me off. We didn't have any paper or postcards with that color that I recall--but it could have been on the book itself. Steve wasn't responding to fan mail as a normal routine then although he did make exceptions now and again. Do you have any other information about how/why you came to get the note?

I know I'm ignorant compared to you on matters-sK, Mod, and not that you're saying it isn't but that really looks authentic to me.

Yes, it does and the other handwriting does as well. I'm asking for the provenance to see if it jogs my memory as the stationery (if that's what it is on) does not look familiar.
Ya made me look...

provenance noun, prov·e·nance\ˈpräv-nən(t)s, ˈprä-və-ˌnän(t)s\

1: the origin or source of something

2: the history of ownership of a valued object or work of art or literature

I had written a letter after reading The Stand and that was part of the response I got. The card that it is actually written on is white ... I just had bad lighting when I took that picture of it. Give me a few minutes and I will post the full contents I had gotten back then (with my name and such blotted out)

Don'cha ever watch Antiques Roadshow? :p

I hope it is an authentic signature. Very cool for Venisha :)
Me too. It's one of those things I'd always wondered about ever since I got it in the mail. Over the years people have told me it's probably an auto-generated response or something to that effect so I've gotten doubtful that it's real, but I'd be on cloud 9 if it turns out genuine :D

Hi venisha, I've just taken a look at the images and think I might wait for Marsha to decide whether to post these publicly or not. It's just that the office postal address is visible.. and to be honest, I cannot remember if this is the old or current one, I think it is the old one, but want to be sure before approving the message.

Another way would be for you to P.M ("Conversation") Moderator the images too.

Oh I'm sorry ... I didn't think to block out that address. I can cover the address and re-post it or P.M. either way ... whichever is best for you guys :)

Thanks for editing the images, :) I'm pretty sure (judging by how old the letter is) that the physical address will no longer matter, but I think I'd like to just hold the photos in the moderation queue until Marsha is online tomorrow morning.
