I noticed Keillor has been invited to be the featured speaker here in old Gettysburg this week for the 152nd anniversary of the Gettysburg address. It would be great if Uncle Stevie would do that one year. Quite an honor and they tell me Gettysburg is one of the spookiest places around although the tourists scare me more driving in the traffic circles than the ghosts.

Ah, the bright lights of Carlisle. They serve a mean waffle and frites at the Cafe Bruges.
yup, my hometown does have some haute cuisine beyond scrapple and hotchee dogs :afro:
It's been a long time since I ate some of Gettysburg haute cuisine. A trip to the Dobbin House may be in order!
Do they still do all the haunting/ghost tours around town?
Btw, I know how to drive roundabouts... I learned in Ireland where they do it backwards :onthego:

The ghost industry is huge in Gettysburg. Next to the Civil War tourism it's probably the biggest thing going in the summer. The restaurants are definitely a mixed bag though. A few higher end type historical places like Dobbin House and Farnsworth Inn (good peanut soup) but a lot of dumpy fast food. If you have lunch on the main square you can watch the endless traffic flow into the circle and the near misses as some drivers are overly aggressive while others are overly passive. A lethal combination compounded by the truck traffic that goes through the center of town. There's rarely a flock of sheep in the middle of the road though like Ireland. So that does likely make it somewhat less challenging.

Are you excited about Keilor being the featured speaker?
