Since this is the month of turkey and stuffing induced comas I thought it would be nice if some of youse guys wanted to post a daily(or whenever you are on here)thanks for something you're, well, thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving month!!

Today I'm thankful that it's Friday and that I woke up this morning!

I give thanks everyday and I'm not one that waits for Friday or the holiday season to be happy.
I try my best to enjoy each and every day.
When I see the suffering around the world I know that I am very blessed.
I won't take that for granted because a real 'problem' could happen at any moment.
The day to day living 'problems' that we experience are just carp crap. It's Life . . .someone else is always at a rougher point in life and most often it will be way worse than what we'll ever have to deal with.

I'm a big fan of Family Feud and one of the questions recently asked was, "What is better than being, rich?" All answers were solved except one and it baffled me because it was the one that I kept hollering at the TV . . .

I feel the same way. I know I'm privileged to live the way I do and to keep company with the people I time with.

It could be sooooooooooooooooooo very different.

I'm thankful for the relative health i'm enjoying. excluding some minor epilepsy problems i'm very healthy. The good friends i have, including you guys, and the inspiring work i'm doing. I'm getting paid to write!!! Isn't that amazing. Not that i earn much out of it but it is enough to make a living. But to change the subject.... This thanksgiving thing.. Does it have to do with Mayflower coming to America or what exactly is the occasion?

It's in honor of the pilgrims (first American settlers) and native Americans giving thanks for what they had, together in the same celebration. The Indians saved the pilgrims' collective ass by sharing what they had with them. If it hadn't been for the Indians, the pilgrims would all have died.

Now the celebration is tied (somewhat) to the harvest and what is abundant in our lives, and it is a day where turkey is the most common entrée at the Thanksgiving meal, along with a bunch of other dishes that Americans associate with Thanksgiving.

Very well stated Lily Sawyer

I'll add this:

Native American Thanksgiving celebrations today

Unsurprisingly, many Native Americans honor Thanksgiving differently.
While mainstream America is carving up an estimated 45 million turkeys, various tribes in Massachusetts will be paying tribute via the National Day of Mourning atop Coles Hill, which overlooks Plymouth Rock. The Wampanoags and others fast for the occasion, a direct and intentional contrast to the standard Thanksgiving tradition of overconsumption. In recent years, the event has grown to include presentations, skits, and demonstrations.

Others approach Thanksgiving from a more nuanced perspective. In A Native American View, Jacqueline Keeler admits she celebrates Thanksgiving. To her, the day is about giving thanks for being a descendant of the small group of survivors of Europe’s ‘discovery’ of America.

I am thankful to my family, to my best friend and to my boyfriend who makes me feel so much love! True, sometimes we forget about such little things, we forget to say how grateful we are... We should say it more often to feel happy and to make others feel happy, too!

Also, thank you, all the members of SKMB, I am happy this place exists!

So... it's breakfast time here and I just opened the honey pot, look what I found:

Flake's Honey.jpg Flake Honey.jpg

Somehow, the honey (overnight, it wasn't like this yesterday) has formed a wee symbol, and it reminded me of what I am thankful for.

I am thankful for love, in all of its different forms. It is something we often don't feel like we have enough of, or we may have the wrong kind, or we may even just not recognise it when we find it.
I believe it is the single most important thing in life and that it fuels everything we strive to achieve, every decision conscious or otherwise.
Without it, we are just wasted... every act of kindness, every gesture, each thought and action--can be made better with love in mind. We can heal a planet, we can lift a spirit.

I am thankful for love... and life.
