My friends, I need urgent prayers for my cousin. Just heard he is in the hospital with blood clots, and some are in his lungs. Please, please pray he recovers. We just lost my grandma, my grandpa a year ago. My aunt and uncle have already lost 2 of their 5 boys. Please, not another one.
His name is Eric. He is married with 3 children. He is only 41.

...rather than try to play catch-up with hundreds of posts, since I'm always monkeying around on the post playground...I wish peace and solace to those hurting and in need...GNT hugs for all....and Cat?...unless your cousin has co-existing health problems-he will be down for a while with the emboli, until they can break them down with ant-coagulant therapy...but he WILL be fine!....it will be a bore getting blood drawn all the time, to keep track of his PT/INR(indicators of how thin his blood is)-and he'll need to take care around sharp objects until the therapy is completed-but if this is his first bout with such, then probably six months is all he'll need-first on shots, then pills...Tracy had them at 49, and responded VERY positively to treatment...

They took Eric into surgery about an hour ago to place a filter by his lungs to catch the clots. He has them all over in his right leg, 3 in right lung and 1 in left lung. Also he has been started on blood thinners.
The surgery was over quickly and successfully, he was in recovery as of about 30 min ago.
Thank you, Scott, for your expert opinion. The doctor is going to be doing some tests to determine the cause, but he was leaning toward it being auto-immune, or possibly something to do with an old, severe injury to his right leg from a car accident. He has a lot of pins and rods in that leg. We all suffer from auto-immune something or others, and that is also what took one of Eric's brothers, so the doctor was focusing on that first.

Glad to hear he is doing well and sending best wishes your way that he has a quick recovery
...the Greenfield filter should be the trick...and severe injury like that could well have led to it, but not at this late date-unless he retained them to this point and was just asymptomatic....Factor II Leiden is an auto-immune disorder that causes blood to clot to much...possibly have them check for that, if you don't hear that bandied about...he will be fine, but from the sounds of it-on anti-coag therapy for life....
Thank you, Scott, and everyone! Have not heard much today, he was in some pain still this morning but did get some rest last night. My mom said she was heading to see him and would keep me posted, but have not heard back yet. It is hard in situations like this to be far away. But he is in good hands, it sounds like.
