(((Kat))) .... good news on Teddy's front ... got his creatinine and potassium levels back, both are within normal levels... we were worried Teddy might be looking at another kidney transplant. He had been sick may have been why his numbers were off. Thank you for everyone that keeps him in their prayers... they really do work IMO.

I was hoping to come here with some news about closure, but last night my husband's family was dealt another blow: his nephew (the son of my husband's only sibling) may have cancer. We are awaiting test results. The doctor said it can either be an ulcer or cancer. This family cannot (and will not!) stand another life-threatening illness. I am calling on every faith out there for prayers and positive thoughts. Please, please, please let this just be an ulcer. And as always, all my prayers and positive thoughts are with you all who have been most helpful in my time of need. Thank you.
....oh jeez Tom!....if you need anything, or some explanation of medical gobbldeegook-let me know.....

Can I get some healing vibes for Katalyna?
She just got back from the doctor, and has double pink eye, and a throat infection. She has been coughing really bad.
The doctor said her throat is really red, and the glands are swollen bad.
She can't go back to school until Wednesday.
The eyedrops cost $204!! Thank goodness for insurance!!
That is very infectious/contagious - healing vibes :(

Keep an eye on her! [oops sorry - just realized that sounds like a bad pun]

I had conjunctivitis in both eyes years ago - it was awful!

Not yet. I've been waiting patiently, but with the 3 hour time difference between NJ and CA, it's becoming excruciating. Last we heard yesterday was the nephew went to the hospital for more tests. What kinds of tests, who knows? My husband is not the best at asking questions and/or passing along information. I will immediately report back once I find out something more concrete. Thanks for you concern DJ, it is much appreciated.

The woods are lovely dark and deep
I'm back with a request for more prayers. My mother-in-law passed away yesterday. As some of you may know, her husband passed only 3 months ago (1 day short of to the day). Following is what my husband wrote to our friends at church. It is lovely. I feel so badly for him and his brother. It's been rough. I'm off to CA this Saturday for a week and really need some prayers and positive thoughts sent our way as we make it through the service and the weeks of mourning ahead of us. Thanks in advance to everyone and as always, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My mom, Melinda (Linda) Ann Martinez passed away peacefully this afternoon at the age of 76 as a result of lung cancer just 3 months after my dad's passing. Perhaps both of them could not stand to have cocktails and a cigarette alone. They are now together again for eternity in the light of Christ in heaven.

My mom was an extraordinary person. Daughter, Wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, PTA president, business owner, volunteer. Whatever her title, she was always there for everyone, to include the cats, fish, birds, rabbits, dog, chipmunks that called her backyard home. A true disciple of St. Francis. We all came first, always.

I am extremely grateful for your support and prayers during this difficult time for my family. It's never easy losing a parent, but coming on the heels of losing my father and the suddenness of her illness and passing makes this a tough pill to swallow.

As many of you know my goal of retiring this year and moving to California in the near future was in part to spend more time with my parents. Unfortunately that did not come to pass. However, I have been able to be there with my family in my parents' final months and for this I am most grateful.

I will let you know the funeral arrangements shortly. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in memory of my mother to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, or your local animal shelter.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
Prayers for all.

...in his defense, when the Great Gods in the White Coats begin spilling their special brand of word salad, it's hard to figure out WHAT to ask, let alone understand it.....they hate me, because I make em clear up what I don't already know from my own healthcare experience.....

I am happy to return to this board and report all is well! Praise the Lord (or who or whatever you believe in): my husband's nephew is OK!
I spent an agonizing day at work not hearing anything from them and when I got home at about 5pm, my husband was on the phone with his brother laughing and talking about something silly. I immediately knew all was well. Turns out it's probably just kidney stones and they are waiting to see if they pass. Seems like the doctor who originally said "ulcer or cancer" wildly misspoke... to say the least!

I just want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers, positive vibes, words of wisdom, etc. Please know you are all in my prayers tonight and I am praying for something positive and wonderful to happen in your lives! Thanks again!!!

Now it's time to have dinner and relax. Thank God!

Thankful prayer said tonight. Continuing healing vibes for your husband's nephew. Guidance to the doctors to help with the kidney stones. Now, you enjoy your dinner and relax. Stress is not good. Much love and green lights!
