In your mirror.
I have been watching it and enjoying it but...

I get cranky when people behave foolishly. Father held for questioning because he won't say where he was the night before. Ms. Thing confesses to having a fling with him. He's released. Wife doesn't know about it. Yet. Meets up with Ms. Thing in the middle of the night. "I feel my sons murder has something to do with what we did." *Sad* *Guilty* Then nanoseconds later he's playing tonsil hockey with Ms. Thing. AND his wife can see the entire thing!!!

SMDH.

Just got through the first two episodes. They sure do know how to toss out suspects, don't they? Was Broadchurch like this? I am getting invested, though the first part made me teary (I'm becoming prone to that in my old age). Seriously, I can imagine NOTHING worse than something happening to one of my kids, and these parents... I don't get them at all. Tennant is interesting, but I find the partner to be stiff and unconvincing as a cop OR a wife/mother. I'll definitely be tuning in tomorrow for another couple of episodes :) One question: is there ANYONE likable in the whole damn town?

If you like this, Dana Jean , you'll definitely like Top of the Lake. Similar mystery, more cursing, though (if that bothers you), since it was a joint venture between Sundance channel and Brit TV (I think). Peter Mullen and Elisabeth Moss are wonderful in that show--both should have at least been nominated for Emmys.

The mother/ cop lady starts growing on you. There are so many possibilities on who done it, I haven't figured this one out yet. I have Top of the Lake in my queue. Must watch it!

Anyone watching this? It's really good. I love these crime Whodunnits. David Tennant (Dr. Who) and Anna Gunn (Skylar on Breaking Bad) are the main characters. Sort of along the same line as that old show Harper's Island.

This one, we have to figure out who killed a kid, Danny Solano.

Unlike Harper's Island where I knew immediately who the killer was, I haven't a clue yet on this one.

I think they all did it, just like
Murder on the Orient Express.

Anyway, this has hooked me. Anyone want to share their thoughts?
When I saw the previews for Gracepoint, I immediately thought of you and Harper's Island......and how you had Henry pegged from the beginning.
I still haven't seen Gracepoint yet......I have to catch up soon.

We've been watching it from the beginning but to be honest, I'm at the point where I just want the damn thing over with and inwardly groaned when they announced how many more episodes there are last night. I have no clue who did it but not sure I'm caring much and it will feel more like an okay, I can check that show off my to do list. Can't quite put my finger on why--probably has a lot more to do with me than the show itself.

Must admit I enjoyed Broadchurch much more than Gracepoint. There is action here, but it has a drag feel too.

Oh, this one is so much better. But, the killer isn't obvious to me here. This one is done with a little more skill than Harper, and too many side things going on to make you wonder what the hell is going on.

Overplotting, maybe? I've seen that happen more than once in the last couple of years. Writers think they're being clever with a jillion Scooby-Doo twists, but they're mostly being annoying. It's especially bad when they break my Cardinal Rule of a Good Book: they jettison how real people actually act in favor of 'plot'.

I have plans to catch up this weekend, then I'll be able to help you solve the mystery.
.....or at least discuss options.

Just finished this on Netflix. It says First Season. Is there a second season? This was an odd little cultural excursion for me. I loved it. I loved the darkness to it and although it must have been warm there with all the nudity, the scenes always felt so cold. Looking Through the camera always gave me the sense of cold and chill.

Creepy characters. I did have it figured out quickly -- on all counts.
I knew the baby was Matt's--although Al could have been covering that up by saying it was Matt's when in fact, it wasn't ; I knew that Robin and Johnno were thought to be related, I knew Matt was Robin's father (although Johnno ended up not being his son); I knew Al was a creep and was involved in some sort of child extortion ring. The thing I never really did understand was the group of women. And Holly Hunter's presence as a counselor? among them? Giving these riddle like comments.

I would definitely watch a season 2.

Yeah it really wasn't difficult to figure out, but the performances were riveting (I thought).
The women were just weird. Felt like a place for plot and character exposition more than an integral part of the story. Matt certainly showed his character in relation to them!

Great performances!
They all brought a unique vision to their characters. All of them. Matt was this brilliant outlaw guy, but at the end, it seemed rushed that all of a sudden, he was frantic--manic-- to find Tui. It seemed like she had been holed up in a very obvious place for a long time. Why the police searches didn't find her, although at first it does appear she was living more wild and on the fly. I love the name Tui by the way. Just so many layers to this. Culture, family, community, individuality. Really nicely done.

Well, killer finally revealed.
Any thoughts on whether you think Carver would force Ellie to come clean about Tom?

Hoping it's on Hulu today :) I have to say, I really liked the last couple of episodes (though the female cop is truly abysmal as an actress, IMHO. Flat, flat, flat). I'm hoping the killer isn't who Im suspecting right now. There's only one person I really like (aside from Tennant) on the whole show, so that's probably who did it.

Having watched this one, I'm pretty excited for Broadchurch to show up on Netflix in the next few days.

I have concerns, since Carver began walking rather quickly, that he might have a heart attack-hmmm. There is this "feeling" that maybe, just maybe he might feel that he should keep what he has figured out between himself and Ellie. But can he? Will his true to self allow that? Will surgery make him feel differently about "life". A second season could be one of keeping secrets?
