I love the idea that this lady is trying to help young ladies realize their dream of grad night. For some, buying a dress, is not possible....or a suit for the young men. I have seen the anguish first hand when I worked with youth whose parents could not afford this. You know what I would do? For grad night, have the students go to thrift stores and find inexpensive items of clothing. Find ensembles that would look cool and classy as an individual fashion statement. Wear this and then enter the contest for the cheapest and ultra-coolest style for this grad night. The Salvation Army or the other outlets win because they sell cheap clothing. The students win for their fashion sense and coolness. Everyone is happy and everyone can attend their Prom.

These type of concerns and alternatives have been going on since I was in high school... back in the dark ages. I remember someone writing in our class newspaper on alternatives how it would be nice to show up holding a kitten instead of a pricey bouquet or corsage. I thought it was a dumb idea... why put a kitten through that. Luckily no one did.

The few I've looked into are willing to provide for guys, but while girls almost always buy their dresses and can donate, guys usually rent a tux. So, while they are willing, they aren't able.

Should add, I was looking into it for reasons other than getting a discount prom dress. I graduated loooooong ago.
