King fans can relate. Here goes:

On The Road

Great book. The film? A lame, embarrassing snooze fest. Kirsten Stewert shows about as much life as she does in those Mormon vampire flicks. Garret Hedlund displays none of Neal Cassady's wild, frenetic behavior. Sam Riley sounds kinda like Jack with a bad head cold. There's a heavy focus on Ginsberg, which wasn't present in the book. Only redeeming feature? Viggo Mortensen as Old Bull Lee (Burroughs); unfortunately, his screen time is cut way too short.

I waited all these years for this crap? Ugh. Hope Big Sur is better.

So what adaption broke your heart?

Simon Birch (1998) adaptation of "A Prayer For Owen Meany"

At least I think it's supposed to be an adaptation of John Irving's great novel. "A Prayer..." has to be a very difficult novel to bring to the screen but the movie misses the mark so much that I wonder if the filmmakers actually read the novel. I think John Irving had his name removed from the credits (or he tried to). If you haven't read this book, read it but stay away from this wretched film.
