I'm Nikole and I just signed up. I actually saw this site a few years ago and I'm finally back after sometime away writing to become part of it. I wanted to get a feel of this site before signing up today. I saw King was on Twitter (of course I followed him) but as my page is a private account and I don't visit much to the site in over a year, I felt it was better to find another outlet to write to him in full rather than 140 characters per post. I saw this site's link on his official account page.
My post here is to just thank him, to say if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have been the writer I became. I found out years later (early 90's) after using my own background/life for writing material and fictionalizing it into my stories/books, that King himself did the same thing his entire career. I said I knew I was doing something right. I've been writing since before my teens and then in high school began formatting my stories into screenplay format. I chose that format because I like to see how the characters interact and at the same time it can be read like a novel.
After nearly a couple of years of trying, I finally published my book! It's not my 1st written story but I figured for a start for my career as an author, it was my best written work ever. I hope to follow with many more stories and books as King has. I also would like to ask him a private question one day about one of his short stories.
Again, my enormous thanks to you, Stephen King. You are and always have been my idol author since childhood. Because of you, you showed that there is still originality out there and that writers have to dig deep to tell that story.
