Hi everybody! I hope you will take the time to read this and think about joining the fun.

This year, we will be doing things the way they were done when this board first started.
A much looser format. Not a lot of editing other than maybe spelling, or if you forgot a period, a period will be added. Your words will be yours.

There is no discussion about the story topic. No deciding elements involved. This is more like playing that kid game, "Telephone, Telegraph, Tell the Next writer!"

Some brave soul will start us off. They will get to pick what our story will be this year: ghost, zombie, vampire, spooky kid, crazy neighbor. We have no clue. The next person in line to write will see the segment posted live and we usually include the name of the author. No anonymous stuff.

These stories will start posting as they are written. The next person in line will see what the story idea is, and do their very best to keep that story flowing.

All writing abilities welcome. And no criticizing. This isn't meant for professional publication, so no need to get harsh. Stephen King will not read this. You will not be discovered. Each writer will not have days to polish their work. This is quick, rough writing. Gonzo style.

There will be continuity issues. There will be plot lines lost. There will be a bazillion characters introduced. And it's called FUN AND ENTERTAINMENT.

I encourage anyone who just wants to play with words to give it a go. More information will follow when we get our list.

Cut off for sign ups, September 15th? sound good?

Any questions, feel free to ask.

...this free for all should be good times!.....
It really is. Honest. We try our very best to give a great story to our SKMB members. And they always end up top notch. But getting there can have some stumbles. And seeing how our writers work through those stumbles is a testament to their cleverness.

I'm telling you guys right now. I am not a writer. I am mediocre at best. But I put my all into my segment to further the tale. You can too!

I am copying this from another thread I commented in, but it needs to be made clear.

I do want to make clear, though, that this isn't a joke. We are trying very hard to do the best story we can. The humor comes not because we try to write humor, but because little props or threads or characters get ...mislaid. It's a lot of fun trying to work everything in that needs to be there.

The last person has a huge job of trying to tie up all these loose ends. Anyone want to volunteer to be our last writer?

How long does each author have to post?

It was a dark and stormy night when I posted this missive on a famous author's message board. "What was I thinking?" I thought. Then it came to me in a blinding flash of lugubrious verisimilitude. "You use words that you don't know!" I concluded yellowly. "And you make them up too!" I thought frangicalistically. It was just then I heard a blood curdling sound. I checked the pot on the stove and, sure enough, the blood was curdling away. I was ready to add the garlic and salt when I suddenly heard a blood curdling scream. "Too late scream", I thought.

I am now practicing for the big SKMB halloween writing event.:chew:
