Still reading. Haven't met the kids yet that I barely remember from the movie I just saw parts of. The thugs went to jail for killing the homosexual, even though penny wise finished him off. Then the next part I think is years later talking about Stanley as an adult. Kind of a lull right now.

Well been busy so u guys r probably ahead of me. I finish ed up where Beverly is laughing on the curb after just leaving the abusive husband. Favorite part of the book so far. Superbly written. So vivid that scene of physical violence back and forth. High tension. Literally had to take a deep breath after. Man people who don't read r missing out. Well, gotta couple of hours right now so , here I come IT. Night time too. I'm pumped. Thank you SK. You will never read this but I hope u know how much I appreciate this time I'm about to spend tonight reading.

I just did a re-read of 'It' a few months ago. It was my first one since it was published. I forgot so-o much. But, it was like coming home again....... Nobody else could have written this novel this well. Nobody! King remembers what it was like being a kid growing up back in the 50's and is able to pull the reader into the story like noone else. I know I've said before that I considered the Dark Tower series to be his magnum opus, but I think 'It' actually is and will stand the test of time and be widely read in 50 years.

Hope you like it as much as I did chief, because that's a lot. With regards to the movie, let me put it this way: the green mile is widely considered (including by Stephen) to be the most true interpretation of any of his books. It is 3 hours long and the book (my paperback) is 433 pages. The movie for IT is also 3 hours long and the book (my paperback) is 1116 pages. That gives you an idea of how stripped down the film is. Plus some of the differences are ridiculous. That being said, it's still one of my favourite films in spite of the bad acting and the general cheesy-ness.

John Boy rocked that pony-tail! fer sure.

I really liked it too. Spot-on Beverly.

I seem to recall enjoying the mini-series, warts and all, but I did have the usual problem of trying to fit John Boy and Venus Flytrap into the characters that already existed in my head.

A common refrain in the earlier days: It was okay for what it was.

Well, I'm about to start my journey with The DT Series.
I'm really pumped and excited but to be honest, I don't think it's possible to write anything better than "IT".

I'm glad that you're reading "IT" during the summer time - that's the only proper way to deal with this monsterbook :)

Good for you, Karloff! Are you starting with Gunslinger, or Drawing Of The Three?

I was the same but the opposite way around. I decided to read the novel because I really liked the film, which I watched first. I read it thinking
wait, bill doesn't have red hair, adult bill isn't bald, audra is Asian not Scandinavian, Eddie mum is scrawny not morbidly obese, etc.

:dejection: I know, right?

And I think Eddie's mom became his wife.? Still fun to watch. But now that I am re reading. I might just get upset with it.

At least Molly Ringwald did not show up. :grinning:
That was one of the weirdest changes for me
instead of marrying a morbidly obese woman who stressed and fussed over him (basically his dead mother), the film made him a virgin who still lived with his mum.

Why the hate on poor Molly? She weren't the worst actor in the stand, the guy who played Harold was well worse.

yep, The Gunslinger goes first. In Poland be have brand new edition of The DT series so it's about time to start without any excuses ;)

The new edition of The Gunslinger includes The Little Sisters of Eluria story. The story in Sisters' takes place before The Gunslinger, right ?
