"Tongue tied and twisted, just an earthbound misfit." Genius. Gilmour's guitar playing seems to always have such a melancholy feel to it. I don't have any idea how he gets that sound from a guitar but his playing is just so....clean and perfect. To all our SKMB members in Great Britain, thank you for producing such OUTSTANDING musicians. Your country is truly fascinating and full of talent. Everyone have a good weekend.

David Gilmour's guitar solo in "Comfortably Number" (which is one of my very favorite Floyd tunes) is close to perfect in its expression of rage, sorrow, and loss, as an analog for the lyrics that preceded it. Happy birthday, Mr. Gilmour. Thank you for such a wonderful musical presence.

There's the the (Mohs) mineral scale of hardness, where talc is #1, and then scale proceeds in even progression to corundum as #9. And then diamond just occupies a place on its own, #10 on that scale, but four times the scratch resistance of #9. Nothing else comes close to diamond.

That's how I view Pink Flowd. Other bands were more influential. Other bands were more popular. Other bands may have had a song, or smattering of songs, that were just as good, maybe even better on an individual basis. But in talking about "best," for a body of work, the longevity, range, inventiveness, power of the lyrics, expressiveness of the music, no one else comes close. There's Pink Floyd and then a debate about the others.

Shine on, You crazy Diamonds.

I like the solo he played during Comfortably Numb in the Pulse DVD.
Which one is the Pulse DVD?
Thanks, Neesy for that! I have watched it 2 times now, and I also watched the other video of his solo's. Great stuff. I don't think I have ever heard anyone ever say they didn't like Pink Floyd. Great band, great music!
Yeah - I never got to see them in concert - lucky @not_nadine!

I'm sorry.

I saw them three times. One was the Animals tour, and that was out at Anaheim Stadium. Years later, at Mile High in Denver. I think Roger was still with them then, but I can't be positive, because it wasn't the Wall tour. And then one that was definitely post-Waters.

Each was bigger and more spectacular than the previous. And it took a stadium to house that show. Just incredible.
