Goodness, here's some inequality for you.. when it's Mother's Day it's like a party in here...!Wishing all of the Dads and the men in 'dad roles' a very happy Father's Day, it is largely you that will mold and influence the boys in your lives into the men that they will become--your role is hugely important in family.

Thank you Flake! Good dads don't get enough credit, and I'm glad there's others who get that. Today was my hubby's first Father's Day, and it was really sad to see how people didn't wish him a happy day, like they did me on Mother's Day.
(Don't worry though, I made up for it and spoiled him rotten.
I hope all of the Dads had a great day! Happy Father's Day to all! (A bit late...sorry)

Well, the dad's day was spent traveling, mostly, but I got lotsa texts from the descendants, so that was nice.
And that's okay. We don't do a big Fathers or Mothers Day thing, because Grandma assumes that each family segment has their own homage to conduct. She's pretty good that way.
Honestly, as an only kid who found himself in the middle of a good-sized family (and I'm not complaining, since I helped make it), one of my fondest dad's day and birthday wishes is to just have a day to myself.

...much appreciated...my wife, daughter and both grandson's took me to breakfast Saturday as I had to work yesterday...my youngest is on a trip to Myrtle Beach, but called to say he loved me...what really threw me for a loop was the text I received from my oldest son....he knows I've often questioned whether I've been a good dad, and now that he's become one himself-he decided he'd let me know....and I needed a hankie...here's what he had to say:
Happy Father's Day pops! Thank you so much for being there for me through the years and molding me into the man I am today. I could not thank you enough for what you've done over the years to help and guide me to where I am now. I can't thank you in words because it won't be enough. I respect you on a level no one can probably ever know. Anyhow, thank you. I love you big guy!

Fantastic, Scott, that makes it all worthwhile--parenting is so incredibly hard.
....and is it normal to always feel like you've flopped?....I think it must...
It is completely normal... (it takes years for them to show any sort of appreciation for us, and when we hear how badly we're doing--because, that's just what teenagers do--we tend to start believing it.)
...it's nice though to know that despite all the fubars we do do something right eh?...
