My wife Rachael and I want to wish everyone a very Happy Halloween! This was a great year for Constant Readers. It was adapted again into a an excellent film. Many of us at this site got to see it here in Derry (Bangor) itself. Some great new books by King were released, but then again, I'm not sure I remember a year when that hasn't happened. We want you all to keep the spirit, or at the very least keep the spirits as a safe distance. In the Old Irish it is Samuin, and Samhain to the newer set. To kids it is the best holiday ever. I was hand-me-down shoes poor when I was young and Halloween was the day I looked forward to more than any other. Even Christmas didn't hold a candle to it. That is because in the eyes of the Great Pumpkin all are equal. Rich or poor, no matter color or caste, there will be candy. Strangers will open their doors for others in their community. That just doesn't happen often enough anymore. In that vein, our doors will be opening to give out candy at 3:00 pm today until the pumpkin's candle goes out sometime in the wee hours of the morning. We will be watching classic Halloween films and shows, and any and all (if you are in our neck of the woods) are welcome to join us. If not, keep us in mind next Halloween.
