When I was a kid I once asked my day what type of gun he used in WWII. He gave me this picture of him and his ‘gun.’ Picture taken in Liverpool, June 1944, making preparations on his Liberty Ship that participated in the D-Day invasion. He got a lot of use out of his ‘gun’ that day fending off Messerschmitt Bf 109’s.
When I was a kid I once asked my day what type of gun he used in WWII. My Grandpa served in Korea and my husband's Grandpa served in WWII. Thinking of them both today.

My wife’s young lieutenant cousin is currently stationed in Florida doing hazardous duty... pulling teeth (she’s a Navy dentist). She said it’s funny that the bravest men and women she’s ever met, who would gladly lay down their lives to protect this nation, are some of the biggest babies when it comes to visiting a dentist.
You must be very proud.
...I am, even though the government cut his hitch short....they injured his back, but didn't want to pay for the repair-so they gave him an honorable medical discharge....and this type of injury is one reason why the PT tests have taken out the sit-up portion.....
