From the cosmic standpoint, it's no big deal. In relation to the sun, the earth is where it was (well, .25 solar day off) 365 rotations ago. It is only within our human perception that a real change has happened.
But as Einstein said, it's all relative, and our human perception is what we've got, right? And this heralds a convenient spot to reflect on changes and possibilities.
So as we do that, happy 2017, everyone! Like every other day, January 1 is the first day of our continuation, but it's an easy one to notice. It's up to us to take that step to make the continuation a good one.
