Hello, hoping someone can help :)

Hi folks, I'm a pretty big SK fan and have read most of his works. I am hoping someone can tell me if the story I am thinking of is a SK story and if so, which one.

All I remember is that it is set on a military base, a young boy/girl lives there with her father who works at the base. She somehow gets talking to a Mexican boy who often says "muchacha" they both know an old man, he is cripple or something and he lives on the base too. I think they end up burning his hose down.

That's about it, I would like to revisit the story but can't remember then name.

Hi flake, thanks for the reply. No it's not fire starter, I just went Anne read the plot and it doesn't correspond. I'm starting to think it wasn't SK, it was long time ago and I read a lot of SK around that time. Thanks any but mate

Could it be The Passage by Cronin? Do you remember if the monsters were vampires? Do you remember what kind of monster was in the story? If the monster was an army genetical experiment, it could be one of Koontz's monsters.
