    Hello!
My name is Kev. I am a recent nursing school graduate (I haven't even sat for my boards yet), and I have finally started reading for fun again; I am a brand new Stephen King fan.
Real world settings rarely interest me, so I overlooked him until now. I have only read two of his books, Needful Things and Salem's Lot and I absolutely loved them both!
I am open to suggestion on other books of his to read, but right now I am leaning towards The Talisman. I greatly look forward to being impressed again!

Hi Kev! Congrats on graduation, good luck with boards. Welcome to this board, no test to pass here. I would definitely recommend The Talisman. Great story.

This is my favorite of Mr. King's books and the very first book ever to make me cry.

Oh, and welcome to the Board.

Hi and welcome and congrats on the graduation. Good luck on the exams.
Talisman is an excellent choice and follow it with Back House!

Welcome to the SKMB! I'm a nurse; graduated in in 1988. My suggestion per the Boards is to understand that you can't really study for them. You know what you know from classes. If you did relatively well in school you'll be fine for the Boards. Don't think you won't be.

The Talisman's a good choice, as will be any number of others. Personally, I recommend The Dead Zone for beginners.

...take the above suggestions, but until you pass the Boards-the only thing you need to read is every NCLEX prep book out there, every Mosby's etc., that is your life until that computer shuts down and you get your notification...best of luck, from one who passed first test, minimum questions at age 42.....

...from speaking with recent graduates Frank, they have drastically changed the testing methodology....so practical AND book knowledge are weighted fairly equally....

Things change in the field so often and almost fundamentally, I'm glad I have to keep up only to the extent that I do.

Yes, my initial training has sufficed down through the years. I've repeatedly been impressed by how apparently certain good nursing habits remain ingrained in me. I assume that's a mark of a good program.
