My name is Jarid I am from MA and I actually recently just attended my very first book signing for Mr. King in South Portland, ME. I was very upset to see on EBAY recently that people are already trying to make a profit on their copies. As was the case in Portland that a lot of TRUE King fans missed out on a great life changing moment to meet the man himself because these people wanted to make a extra buck...... However beyond that little rant I am excited to join the forum and cannot wait to get involved in all of the conversations....

Welcome to the Board!

I wish there was more we could do to prevent that but unfortunately, the only thing that would is for people to not buy the ones listed on Ebay--if there was no market, there wouldn't be anyone capitalizing on it--and that isn't going to happen.

It's infuriating, isn't it? I will never understand the greed some people demonstrate. They obviously have enough, since they were able to attend the signings, etc.

Anyway, welcome! Lots of nice people here abouts.

I have just recently started re reading everything over again and so far I have finished IT, Under The Dome, Joyland, Duma Key, Misery, The Shining, Doctor Sleep, Mr. Mercedes, and Carrie. However my favorite reads so far have been IT and Misery.. Duma Key and Under The Dome were great, Mr. Mercedes also jumps to mind when I am thinking of favorites..... How about your Riot?

Welcome to the SKMB. I'd be keeping my signed copy if I had one. It's like when people get tickets for something you really want just to scalp them. SO irritating. I like a lot of Sk newre stuff, but The Stand is my favorite classic.
See I have a feeling I am going to get a lot of hate mail for saying this but I have yet to read The Stand I have been reading King since I was 12 years old and just could never get a copy then throughout High School I completely stopped reading and then Going to College is when I really got back into it so I am working on reading everything that he has written I am on Different Seasons now!!!!!

Welcome! I was at the Portland signing too! My book is NOT listed on eBay either and never will be. I ordered one of Cemetery Dances custom slipcases so I could keep it pretty and shiny :cheerful:
I have no kids so need to figure out which friend to put in the will......my other signed one will be burned to ashes along with me! Pleasant thoughts for Friday ;-D

I know I am trying to acquire more and more signed copies but they are very hard to find and very expensive..... Sometimes I come across some really cool things at an antique shop by my house like a just got a first edition copy of the shining with the dust jacket for $6 the DJ is not in the best condition but hey can't win them all!!
