Big fan of Mr. King, just looking to connect with fellow fans and get a question answered.

So, back in January of 2011, I signed a dollar baby contract with the office of Mr. King for the non-exclusive rights to adapt the short story 'The Things They Left Behind.' I've been molding the story since then, in between working on other projects and it's, finally, in a state that I consider to be "close to perfect." However, last year, CBS ordered a pilot for a show based on that same material and now I'm curious if I still have the right to adapt the story? It is not specified how long the contract lasts or if the rights are negated when someone buys the exclusive rights. Has anyone experienced this or know how I could find an answer?

The contract was only good for one year and now that it has been optioned as a commercial adaptation, that story is no longer available for the dollar baby program.
