Helmut Kohl, the former Kansler, of Germany is dead. I did not always agree with him but i always respected him. And also feel that Europe, and above all Germany, should be grateful for how he handled the unification of Germany. He is worth praise for how he managed, in a rather short time, to unify East and West Germany in a smooth way. He had support from the east in Gorbachov and from the west in Mitterrand (President of France). So RIP Mr. Kohl. You did a good job.
Oh, and in a sidenote, Angela Merkel the present leader of Germany was recruited by Kohl from a former east German university. He was her mentor. She was called Kohls Girl for many years until their policiesstarted to differ.
