Can someone please help me to recall the name of this short story and book?
The short story was about a road called a 'motorway' that turned out to be a secret way home that cut the drive time in half.
What made me think about it was a recent road trip I took where I discovered a new route that had not been there a few years back. It literally cut my drive time in half. The road was brand new as if no one had ever driven on it and my entire drive I never encountered another car. There was no side road buildings, houses, or road signs for that matter. It was actually pretty magical. At one point I began to wonder if I had somehow entered on a road that was not yet open.
The entire time all I could do was think of Stephen King's short story and felt I was living it.
Anything anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
