Hi there I'm new here and a long time Stephen King addict since I bought Carrie at 13 (my mum wouldn't let me watch the film) and read almost all of his books apart from the Dark Tower series. I picked up The Gunslinger one day and couldn't put it down. It took me a year to read them and I only finished a few days ago and now wonder why I waited so long! They're now my favourite books ever and I will be taking the journey again soon with a fresh perspective now I know the ending,
which was the only way it could end, the way it began.
Now I feel lost, though I'm reading The Wind through the Keyhole, I feel as if I'm going through a grieving period. So beautifully written, stunning King. Anyway I'm looking forward to joining in with all of you, been lurking for months and plucked up the courage to join. I'm female by the way!

Welcome to the SKMB :)

I go through grieving periods everytime I finish a SK story. I always wish the story would never end and I'm always sad when it does :( Sometimes I can't pick up another book for a long time after finishing one of SK's stories - like I don't want to submerge myself in another author's world.

I know, I felt the same way after Under the Dome. I did not know what to do with myself. I started The Gunslinger about 2 weeks after and got completely immersed into Rolands world. It was reading about the Dark Tower on here that made me want to pick it up. Can I ask you how to quote someone on here, I've no idea how to do it!

Just hit Reply at the bottom far right of the post you want to quote and that person's post will appear in the text box for you to respond to.

Welcome. I always find SK books are the happiest of conumdrums. Wanting to know what happens next but not wanting it to end.
Stephen King said in notes or a foreword that the phrase "the end" was one of the most loved and hated in the English language, especially for a writer and I've never forgotten it. One thing that gets me is that he gets complaints about his books being too long. I love a really fat book! I can chill out, settle in and really enjoy it. Love it when he brings out "uncut" books like The Stand and Salems Lot. I can't believe editors when they've told him to cut bits out. How dare they! If it was written in then it's meant to be there so leave it be! Why would you prefer a skinny little book? Might as well read a short story (which he does really well too) One of my fat favourites is "It" read about 8 times.
