Stephen King said in notes or a foreword that the phrase "the end" was one of the most loved and hated in the English language, especially for a writer and I've never forgotten it. One thing that gets me is that he gets complaints about his books being too long. I love a really fat book! I can chill out, settle in and really enjoy it. Love it when he brings out "uncut" books like The Stand and Salems Lot. I can't believe editors when they've told him to cut bits out. How dare they! If it was written in then it's meant to be there so leave it be! Why would you prefer a skinny little book? Might as well read a short story (which he does really well too) One of my fat favourites is "It" read about 8 times.

and SK has some fat movie, too like Storm of Century and Rose Red ... ::) i like this expression: fat book :D
and i love stort story like you ex: 1408, the man in the black suit, riding the bullet etc.

by the way; welcome :)

Hi there I'm new here and a long time Stephen King addict since I bought Carrie at 13 (my mum wouldn't let me watch the film) and read almost all of his books apart from the Dark Tower series. I picked up The Gunslinger one day and couldn't put it down. It took me a year to read them and I only finished a few days ago and now wonder why I waited so long! They're now my favourite books ever and I will be taking the journey again soon with a fresh perspective now I know the ending,
which was the only way it could end, the way it began.
Now I feel lost, though I'm reading The Wind through the Keyhole, I feel as if I'm going through a grieving period. So beautifully written, stunning King. Anyway I'm looking forward to joining in with all of you, been lurking for months and plucked up the courage to join. I'm female by the way!

I see you read Under the Dome (as you said in another post here) - Have you tried 11/22/63 yet? That is one of my favourites

Yes I have and I absolutely loved it! Some of the scenes are so harrowing and hard to read, I had to come out from under the spell and remember it's Stephen King writing this and it's supposed to be horrific. I'm talking about the young girl and the gang of men. God I cried. But this is how he gets you. It is real life horror. That book had me on tenterhooks, I could not wait to get back to it and would think about it all day. I just couldn't figure out how the Dome got there. My son told me
"it's aliens" halfway through and I thought don't be daft! I got so attached to the characters and that's another thing, you DO care and I can hear him saying "gotcha!"
Alot of people didn't like the ending but I did. I thought it was phenomenal. When it finished I was so upset and it took me ages to get over it. Just like The dark tower. I sometimes think Mr King should offer counselling because it stays with you.

Sorry I got carried away with Under the Dome! I've got the book 11/22/63 but haven't read it yet. It's waiting to be read along with Dr Sleep. I'm gonna finish windttkhole and go for one of those. Is that one dark tower related? If it is that would be brilliant.

...all novels are DT related on some path of the Beam or some level of the Tower....

Too, here in the States...and I imagine other places as well...there's something on the back jacket. A keyhole with a rose? Something like that...and that signifies the story you hold in your hands is Dark Tower related. And there is probably something on the main page that has a list. Welcome to the board.

Hi and thank you. If you're talking about 11/22/63, I've got it in paperback so mine doesn't have a rose etc but I believe it's DT related. Looks intriguing from the description on the back. I didn't fancy it when I bought it (was obsessed with DT at the time), but like the idea of the 1950's era with the classic American cars and music.

Like your username! &Thank you. I think I've got nearly every short story he's ever written. Is storm of the century a short story or a novella like The Mist?

i think Storm of Century isnt a novella because there are no many character and events in a novella.Novella has a single action or issue. but i am not sure, exactly :S .
and thankx to you like my username

Hi. Yes...have it in hardcover and I had to look but no rose that I see. I think this is a link to the "Dark Tower" portion of the main page...on that page far right, Dark Tower...and then at the bottom of the page that opens up, "Connections" The Dark Tower - Connections
