Stephen King said in notes or a foreword that the phrase "the end" was one of the most loved and hated in the English language, especially for a writer and I've never forgotten it. One thing that gets me is that he gets complaints about his books being too long. I love a really fat book! I can chill out, settle in and really enjoy it. Love it when he brings out "uncut" books like The Stand and Salems Lot. I can't believe editors when they've told him to cut bits out. How dare they! If it was written in then it's meant to be there so leave it be! Why would you prefer a skinny little book? Might as well read a short story (which he does really well too) One of my fat favourites is "It" read about 8 times.
I couldn't agree more. Every time a new SK book comes out I always hope for real doorstopper. I loved the uncut version of The Stand. I've read The Stand so many times I've lost count!

Hi. Yes...have it in hardcover and I had to look but no rose that I see. I think this is a link to the "Dark Tower" portion of the main page...on that page far right, Dark Tower...and then at the bottom of the page that opens up, "Connections" The Dark Tower - Connections
Thanks for the link! So much info, the sheer scale of the whole thing is unreal :icon_eek: I've just got TDT Complete compendium and it's insane but this link looks a bit easier to follow. I had no idea how deep it goes. God to be inside the man's head? And then people have the cheek to nit pick silly details. Will have a good read later.

I know I've read it countless times but every time I read it I swear I find something new. I love the extended bit about trashcan man blowing stuff up. There was an interview King did where he talked about firestarter (and Carrie I believe) and said he thinks he's a closet pyromaniac coz he loves blowing stuff up! Love it! I think we love him most coz he is "real" and "in touch" with people. Just ordered a new hardback Nightmares and Dreamscapes (favorite short story collection of his) as I lost mine moving house, had to replace quite a few. Hate to lose books. Oh I've gone off on a tangent again. I'll shut up now.

The book is a trade paperback that included still shots from the filming of the miniseries along with the teleplay and the miniseries is on DVD as well. Steve did a cameo for it but I won't spoil what part he did in case you want to find him on your own. :smile2:

It's so nice to see these little cameos of his. And I like the way alot of filming is done in Maine. I can't remember all the places or anything (but I've got the Stephen King Companion by George Beahm which is pretty old now but there's loads of good stuff in there). If there's anywhere I'd want to go in the world it's there. Not to do any weird stalking or anything (well not much) but just to have a look at that house and some of the scenery. Looks like a gorgeous place to live and I hope it stays that way. Such modest homes too for such a "celeb" by today's standards.

They did most of the filming for that in Southwest Harbor, Maine but also had a soundstage in the Toronto area for some of it where they recreated a lot of the downtown area. The production company took a number of the residents of SW Harbor to the set to have them check it out and I was told one of them actually fainted when she saw it because it looked so real. Yeah, we don't get out much here. ;-D

Wow! We are really lucky to get all this inside information. When I read your post about typing pages of Kings books it's the closest I've been to being star struck! Him and Bruce Springsteen are my number ones. Every time I hear Jungleland I go right back to the atmosphere of the Stand. It fits so well. He's defo a fan of The Boss!

I'm always writing too much and end up waffling on. I don't know what to put now. That reminds me of a SK quote posted in another thread, wish I could remember who posted it. Anyway it was on twitter he said something like "I've finally managed to get on twitter and I can't think of a thing to say. Some writer I turned out to be." Well he's alot funnier than I am. I'm surprised I went to all that trouble and wrote all this stuff down!
