I've never written anything here before, but I just had to find a place to tell people I actually met Stephen King and shook his hand at the book signing in Austin! I live in Fort Worth and while I wasn't able to get a ticket myself, a friend who did decided to give me hers because she knew how much it would mean to me. The entire experience was amazing. When it got to be my turn, every thought went out of my head, so I just asked to shake his hand and said thank you. I was tearing up and probably shaking like a leaf, but it was wonderful. He was so nice and attentive to each and every person. While I wish I could have said some of the things I had rehearsed, I'm still happy with how it all turned out. It was the opportunity of a lifetime for me.

I know, she is amazing. I'm putting together a thank you gift for her. I have never had any interest in meeting a celebrity of any kind, with the exception of Stephen King. His books got me through so many hard times over the years. I've read and reread his stories so often it has always felt like I know him. I still can't believe I actually met him.

Congrats. He is a very generous and nice man. Welcome to the board. When I met him in Dallas a few years ago, I had thought of all the things I wanted to thank him for....but I actually walked up to him, all I could come up with was "Thanks for coming to Dallas Mr. King"....how lame is that?..lol, it was an honor to meet him though. A great night.

I was a complete idiot. I had several things planned to say, one of which was how much he physically resembles my late father (gone 25 years now), who was coincidentally a preacher. After I asked to shake his hand, I managed to tearfully blurt out, "You look so much like my late father!" But he had already moved on and was signing the next book, so he didn't look up, but chuckled awkwardly. One of the handlers immediately and pointedly said, "THANK YOU FOR COMING!". It was all very awkward and weird, I felt like they all thought I was nuts or something. I could imagine yelling, "But I'm your biggest fan!!!" as they drag me out. ;-)
