The horror genre never really attracted me. I don't like watching "gore" on TV or movies. However, Stephen King being so prominent in the world of literature, last April, while at Half-Priced Books, I decided to pick up a King book. Where do these ideas come from? ;-D

I also began watching every YouTube video featuring Stephen that I could find. The interviews did it for me. Just watching this man, so down-to-earth, so natural, with such a sense of humor, won me over.

The Tommyknockers was my first. We always remember our first don't we?

Since then I have grown my collection, visiting the clearance section of Half-Price Books fairly regularly to add titles whenever I can.

So far I have read: The Plant, Revival, Carrie, The Dark Half, Bag of Bones, On Writing, The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, Four Past Midnight, and Blaze.

I'm currently reading The Shining!

In my growing collection I also have: Gerald's Game, Dolores Claiborne, Rose Madder, The Green Mile, Hearts in Atlantis, Dreamcatcher, The Regulators, The Bachman Books, Waste Lands, Wizard and Glass, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, Mr. Mercedes, Lisey's Story, Firestarter, From a Buick 8, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, and Full Dark, No Stars.

Welcome Bryan! So glad you could get past your disinterest in horror to give Stephen a try. He is so much more than that, depending on the book. There are books of his I love, and books that aren't big hits for me, but I also find Stephen to be an interesting guy and I almost like his nonfiction work better. His interviews are always endearing. I just like the guy.

Thanks for the warm welcome Dana!

And I am quickly finding out that Stephen isn't all "horror." I guess if I would classify him, not a necessary thing to do, I would say more "paranormal" themes than horror, which is right up my alley!

Joyland is not horror and neither is Eyes of the Dragon (those are just the first two I could think of, off the top of my head).

Oh yes - 11/22/63 is also a very good read.

Hearts in Atlantis - another good one which I am rereading at the moment.

ooops - edit - I see you already have "Hearts in Atlantis" :a11::applause:
