So...I'm new. I usually don't post online so if I make mistakes. .I apologize in advance. I own every novel SK has written and cannot count how many times I have read them. Of course, I majored in English with an emphasis in writing. Mostly I read and don't talk. The reason I finally posted is because I'm not sure if I should be upset...

The new McDonald's commercial is clearly SK inspired. "All work...makes Johnny a dull boy." Is he getting the recognition he is clearly owed? Maybe it's not my business either.

While we can credit SK with a lot of sayings and made up words, "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" is an old saying and alas was probably around before SK was even born.

Yes, this is probably a matter which falls under the heading of Public Domain, which describes works which have been around long enough to no longer be considered the possession of one individual or entity. Public domain means the works belong to everyone. For instance, anyone can use any Beethoven piece in any movie without having to get permission from anybody. Beethoven belongs to everybody.
