Just stopping by,
I didn't read Stephen King books for the longest time but, of all titles, it was The Gunslinger that started me off a couple of years ago, and now I am on the final book, The Dark Tower.
In between I have consumed everything that has come my way, including IT and Salem's Lot.
And I wonder why I waited so long.

I think it was because, in part, I wasn't old enough to appreciate them, so starting upon the path of the Beam at 40 was probably the best thing, for me at least.

So, halfway through book VII and I've shed some tears already.
Simply incredible stuff.

Say thankya

I tried to read IT when I was in my teens, back when it was first published in hardback.
The opening scene, my stomach churned!
I set it down and vowed off of King's books from then on, it was to be my first and last!
But much later, and after a 30 year diet of Pratchett and Banks, as well as everything in between, I thought I'd give The Gunslinger a shot, no pun intended, and have never looked back.
I'd easily say The Dark Tower feels like it's the book series I was supposed to read.
Not since His Dark Materials have I been so drawn in and journeyed with the characters.
I was a part of the ka-tet, and grieved with them.
Not to sound too soppy or anything!

So, don't know what to do with myself when this book VII is complete.
I know the prequel novel is there and the graphic works but, for me, the journey will be over.
I've lost Banks and Pratchett in the last year, so my author list is getting ever smaller, I'm hoping I can work my way through more of Mr King's library of work over the next year, as well as keeping up with my other reading.
