How come there's never been a really good documentary about Stephen?

I was just wondering that somebody like PBS or one of the cable programs would do an 'in-depth' retrospective on Stephen King's work; and life. What makes him tick? Interview people that went to school with him. Fellow writers. I've seen documentaries on lesser writers( while they were still living); but all you get with Stephen King is some stuff on You-Tube. I know he most probably thinks that all there is to say about himself is in his books, but as a fan.... Mark.

There is a Biography of Stephen King on the Bio channel every now and then that is very good. Old interviews with kids who went to school with him.

Also, if you can find it, Matt Lauer used to do these Headliners and Legends Biographies. He did one of those.
Yes, I watched the Bio biography years ago and thought it was well done.
Would be nice to have an up-to-date version.

They interviewed me for that one. Matt Lauer wasn't part of the interview, though--he only did the post production intros. :smile2:
60 Minutes and BBC have both done in-depth interviews but those were quite a few years ago. He's been asked a number of times to do others since then but he hasn't had any interest as he feels he's already said what he wanted to say and gets bored with the same questions that are asked. He told me "I'm boring myself" so couldn't imagine it would be any more interesting to anyone else.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought you were talking about Stephen Sondheim.
