Good evening.

I'm pretty sure we all have times we stress.

I's rather dig a ditch with a plastic spoon than be stressed out. Really. Stress can kill.

I like to streeetchhhh out. I stretch out every day but when I'm especially stressed I stretch out big time.

It helps me focus. Stretching my muscles, push and hold the stretch, keeps me in the here and now.

How do you deal with stress?

Thank you!

Stretching is a great idea. Music is always good. I have to exercise it out too. I have to force myself to go sometimes but I always feel better after a good workout. A bubble bath and a beer
and my panic pills
help too. We have a young adult daughter and 2 teenagers. The amount of stress in my life greatly exceeds my ability to deal with it. I don't know how the Ogre lives with me.

Music. I put on a favorite album -- usually 2112 -- and crank it.

Yay, Music! Me, too.

Music works for me two-fold.

When I'm stressed (and feeling sad/down) I put on some music and dance sing and get ALL happy.

BUT, sometimes, when I'm stressed and feeling sad and cruddy...I put on some music and ... cry. I listen to my music and cry. And wail. It helps me purge the poison in my mind and gut.

Peace.

Not very well.

:( *hugs*

I'm with morgan on this. Stress really gets to me and that's because I stress over the TINIEST things. These last two months have been the worst and I've never felt anxiety like this before.

I think what helps is music. Taking deep breaths. For those interested, there's this app called Calm, and it has meditation programs and soothing scenery music like raindrops, the ocean, etc and I actually find that that helps, too!

Believe it or not, dancing calms me down, too. But I agree with Siggy and Holly that stretching is good--any kind of relaxing movement does help!

Well, I used to smoke. Now I read. It really, really helps to get lost in Hogsmeade, or the Territories, or Narnia, or Allagaesia. Time goes by faster, so I don't miss my husband so badly. And mundane things like the dishes don't bother me when I know the next chapter is waiting. Plus my son's nap times mean at least thirty minutes of uninterrupted reading! :biggrin2:

I journal. Both on the computer or in a notebook I carry with me. It's extremely cathartic to write out whatever's bugging me. That way, it's on paper instead of chasing itself around inside my head. Dust off my hands and carry on.
I also paint. It turns the negativity into a positive. Put simply, it's fun. So, for me, it's a two-part process. Out with the bad, in with the good.
