How does one get out of Newbie Purgatory???

Dear Fellow Authors,

How does one get out of Newbie Purgatory so one can post threads to promote their own writing [and perhaps even be seen by Stephen King]? I've posted one thread before, had one reply and several likes, but I find I'm still trapped in Newbie Land. Any advice [and please try to keep the profanity to a minimum]!
