How long could you wait to finish a book?

Is it just me or does anyone else some times enjoy a book so much they won't finish it. I remember leaving the last few chapters of The Green mile series for about six months. I had a crappy job back then with a 2 hours drive too. So I needed that book to keep me going at the start of a new week. It worked because I pushed myself to get a new job then I could finish it!

I can relate gosh! that's what happens to me while reading Mr. Mercedes and Misery, i really love it so much that everytime i finished a chapter, i will stop and will re read it three times.
That was my problem if i attached to a novel, especially to a character, like in my case to my four babies (Brady Hartsfield, Mike Enslin, Charlie Jacobs and Spider of Anansi Boys). That i am so attached to them that when i'm re reading, i always read the chapters involving them repeatedly (sometimes, i skipped chapters just to read the chapters involving them during re reads)

Nope, always gotta finish the book. The only time that I hesitated was when I got to the first 'ending' from the last book in the Dark Tower series, but then I just had to keep going. If I love a book enough I can always do a re-read at some point and experience the joy again.

Hi and welcome. Once I begin a book, I have to continue to the end-- that need to know the results of a good story.
Hi thanks for the welcome, just sometimes its good to keep guessing what might happen for a while. When you do get back to reading it throws you a massive curve ball and takes you on wards. Now that's a good book!

True you can't beat reading chapters with your favorite characters in, makes the book feel like its yours.

....Hells to the no!...I am guilty of plowing full speed ahead to the end of the story.....getting the gist of it, then the full nuances on subsequent reads.....

Its there in your mind though whether to finish or not while you are reading it. I suppose its like knowing you have something to do, a good book to finish
