Um....since I was about 5... 51 years ago.
Not sure why this story says "Heinz just released an official solution to this problem."
I just never knew about tapping the '57' on the side of the neck. I usually just pounded on the bottom of the bottle when it was upside down. Another way is to stick a straw in there when the bottle is upside down, but be ready for a lot of ketchup to come spilling out. :icon_eek:

OMG! Who knew about this neat little trick? All these years of putting ketchup on my burgers and I never knew!
Heinz revealed the 1 trick you need to get ketchup out of its glass bottles
Glass bottles? That sounds sort of 'retro' to me - are they making a comeback?

I guess it's for those who are concerned about plastics seeping BPAs etc. (some of the comments are interesting)

I just did the math. Next year I'm calling you Heinz. ;-D

We were in the double nickel club last year so next year we will be in the Heinz club.
My Mom used to use that term to describe a dog whose genealogy or background was unknown.

Another reason to be glad I'm not fond of ketchup.

However, others in the family are. We buy the condiments bottles that are plastic and stand on their heads, because that makes sense to me. The only drawback is getting rid of that first layer of mustard water when you open the bottle.

I can't believe I'm talking about this.

Have you noticed that shampoo bottles are doing this, too? Except that the shampoo bottles are narrow at the bottom where the lid is which makes them to tip over more easily which means you spill shampoo which means that you have to replace it sooner. Those dastardly shampoo makers!!

Okay this thread reminded me of a childhood memory. My family was having lunch at Bonanza after church one Sunday. I opened a bottle of ketchup and the lid shot up to the ceiling! Rotten ketchup...ewwwww. Probably one of the many reasons I won't eat at restaurants with sneeze guards! ;-D
