Greetings, all.

I'm new to the forum, and an avid King fanatic. Love his stuff. Some time when I have a better opportunity to interact more, I'll be happy to chat about it.

My reason for posting at the moment however, is a troubling one. While perusing the smashwords.com website, I came across this: Smashwords – Bill Hodge – a book by Stephen King

Basically it's MR. MERCEDES being plagiarized under a different name, and being issued by somebody using King's name, even though I'm sure it's not THE Mr. King himself.

I'm not quite sure how to relay this to Mr. King or his publishers, and I could be wrong about it (authors have done odd publicity things before), but this looks as if somebody simply cut and pasted the novel, changed the title, and slapped King's name on it. And as an author myself, I know how frustrated I would be if this were to happen under my nose.

Anyway, I hope Mr. King or somebody in authority sees this and checks it out.

And God willing, I'll be back to discuss other, more enjoyable matters in the future.

Thank you,
J. Dean

Looks like somebody else already was successful in getting the story taken down, but thank you for letting us know. Had it still been posted, I would have forwarded the info to Stephen and his publisher's Legal Department.
