I gave out 4 kinds of candy, giant Mr. Freezies (Not frozen) and pencils. I let the kids pick what they wanted. Surprising how many kids were thrilled to have a Mr, Freezie.

This one man who was taking his 2 1/2 year old daughter said that last year he had her in a stroller while he took her cousins out trick or treating. He remembered that I had baby biscuits and gave her one. They were individually wrapped for freshness, but I figured that made them safe to give out too. He was so appreciative, then and now. Said I gave her her first ever treat. It was just so nice.

There was what I initially thought was 3 adults coming to my door. All were dressed up, but when they got close I could see, mom, dad, and son about twentyish. Mom was carrying the bag. Dad was turning son to face me. Dad picked son’s hand and started him waving, then let go and son continued waving. I waved back. Son got excited and started jumping from one foot to the other. Parents smiled...whole family was having so much fun.

One little guy came to my door. No costume. Little guy about 5. I hand him a candy and he runs back to his mom and she says “people are just giving away candy.” Laughs “I love Canada”.

I would guess well over 300 kids. These were the 3 best.

Ours is still going on.

Some of the little kids are very cute. I got a bit cynical when a full grown man with bad teeth and no costume came up to the door and said he was collecting for his nephew. Josh (being very kind hearted) said "Awww - isn't that nice?" and gave him handfuls of candy.

Of course me, being more cynical, got a bit discouraged and turned our front light off.

After a wee while I relented, took a couple of bowls of candy to the next door neighbor to exchange and after talking with her for a while I turned the light back on.

We still have some of those sour Warheads candies left but since it's already 7:37 we may not get any more kids...

Spent most of the evening trying to calm our two dogs down. I hate fireworks and their effect on pets :angry_002:

Then I had to come into work at 11 to start my nightshift.

Fireworks? What kind of weird Halloween celebration is that?

My neighbour has a boxer. It does not like me....I assume because he senses my fear and it confuses him. Anyway, neighbour and I were talking tonight and she shows me this silly motion sensor ghost she has. It just shakes a bit. And terrifies her big boxer.

Hope your night shift goes well - are you working the Graveyard Shift :nightmare::icon_eek::ghostface: ?

I've always given out baby cookies. It drove me nuts when dad is holding a bag for a baby under a year, and it's the only kid. From that time forward, I thought, I'm always going to ahve age appropriate treats, and I always have peanut free candy. Nowadays, you need to have gluten free and soy free and milk free and sugar free and fun free. I also have dog biscuits.

Had one woman carrying a baby about 3 months old. I really just wanted to tell her she should be at home shelling out. Time for some adulting.

An a couple dressed as big bears. They looked like high schools students and I’m pretty sure they were dating. They looked a bit embarrassed....but were also having fun.

That’s why I always have some food free. Pencils, stickers, tattoos, etc.
It’s funny, the kids chose it and the parents are always confused.

And all my treats are peanut free. If any are left over, I want to eat them.

Yep, nowadays, you just have to be prepared for whatever kid shows up at the door.

Boring.

No girlfriend atm...*signs of the cross* any day nooow would be nice LORD! Don't do parties. No haunted houses this year - def wanted to go to one, though. So, it was a lonely boring Halloween. Not bad...just a normal day.

I'll get more into the season again when/if I ever have kids. I'm at that age where I can't really do much on Halloween when the friends aren't out. Older than kid - so no Trick r Treating, under 21 - so no bar action and I'm not much of a drinker, no kids of my own - so no going out like that.

A few years back (okay maybe it was in the 90s) someone at work suggested they should make it a law or bylaw that you could only give out peanut free treats.

Well, my son is allergic to peanut products (but not severely so) i.e. I could eat a peanut butter sandwich near him and he would not get sick, but I just had to pipe up:

I don't agree - basically it is just people going door to door begging, so I think they should just take whatever they get and sort it out later :ambivalence:

Hey - don't feel bad - to some it's just another day.

Normally I get all excited and decorate, make Halloween cookies and so on.

Guess I am just a bit bummed out due to maybe getting bumped or having to go through a layoff at work. I'm kind of in a holding pattern at the moment - maybe I need to go to the gym for a good hard workout to make myself feel better! (need more endorphins)

My son is also allergic to peanuts. I would let him trick or treat, and when he got home, I would just confiscate that bag and replace it with a bag of treats that I had prepared ahead of time just for him. He still got to have the fun, and he got treats.
