Forgot to contribute.

Two nights ago, in the middle of a marvelous lightning show, we got marble- and grape-sized hail. It built up in big piles. We got water intrusion in the basement. I was up till 1:30 a.m. with the water vac and started up the fans to dry it out.

Ground was still covered with hail in the morning. Went to work, came back in the evening, and there were still groups of icy pellets here and there.

Half the tree in the backyard is on the ground, leaves and branches torn down by the force of it all.

But what's worse is the scammers. We've already had people dropping by and calling to tell us that surely our roof is shot and they can help us with a new one. We've told them all to get lost. If there's a roof problem, that's why we have insurance, and they have their own people to look at it.

We had some wild weather last night.

Was 19 miles south of town, but that is plenty close enough to send me into panic mode. Had the warning, but never blew the sirens, there was a police officer watching it, and the storm had lost some steam by the time it reached town. We got some really, really heavy rain but that was it. The tornado caused some damage to an old, uninhabited homestead, and the heavy rain caused a minor car accident, but those are the only reports of damage/injuries. We're supposed to get it again tonight. These storms are the number one reason this time of year is NOT my favorite.

Oh Cat, this is terrifying! I'm so glad it wasn't worse and that everybody is okay.

Looks like we're maintaining our pattern of 2 or 3 days of nice weather followed by 4 or 5 days of rain. After the crappy winter we just went through, I'm not impressed with summer so far. How about you, Out of Order?

I'm probably going to regret this....but...........it has actually been pretty decent here (I know I just jinxed it!!). We had a bit of a bump in the road Wed. and early Thur. with high humidity and A LOT of rain, but before that it was a very nice dry stretch and finally warm. Only rained once in the week prior to this week's rain. Nights still get a little chilly though. They promise a decent stretch coming up as well with no rain and warmer right through this weekend into early next week.

May and early June weren't anything to write home about that's for sure.:glare:

Fear not Ms. Mod! I'm sure the rest of your snow will melt by the 4th and you can get a late garden planted.

:p

We're not quite that bad! ;-D Nights are still very cool, though, and the garden is on strike waiting for things to warm up before they'll start growing. It looks like they're staging a sit-in at the moment. The impatiens I planted in my window boxes around Memorial Day are alive but don't seem like they've gotten any bigger whereas by now they'd usually have at least doubled in size. Maybe it's me with the impatiens(ce). Good thing we got a share in a CSA for our vegetables although they may not be doing any better now that I think about it. Hopefully it will turn around soon as there isn't that much time for things to grow as it is.

Bold part: That is very good, had me cackling!!

The tomato plants in pots on the deck are going great guns here. I had to tie them up already because the wind knocked them over. I'm shocked to be honest . The rest of the stuff is taking its time. I do hope that the morning glory plants in the window box get going soon. They have sprouted up and have their second leaf set, but they are currently in a meeting to decide on a possible sit in.

Our town had a CSA for years, but stopped just this spring...........:(

Can't you just hear their tiny little Munchkin voices chanting "It's too cold and we won't budge!"?! :smile-new:
