Today was beautiful...don't know what the temp was...it was not unbearable but warm sunny and a breeze from time to time. We haven't had any frost as yet...and though the past two winters were a misery, September last year was gorgeous...late frost if when good for the garden bad for some things...apples maybe...they can wait. And yeah, I noticed the full moon last night, Marilyn there in the sky rising the line from her chin to forehead at 6 o'clock...it's so delicious. Not much in the way of fall color though there is some and one tree across the street is in full color, a maple...but that is rear...there is a scattering of leaves against the curb. Cut the grass yesterday, have got some things from the garden, tomatoes, cukes, onions, carrots, beans yellow and green but nothing like a regular summer...we had a late spring, everything was late.

Inserts an awkward silence...so let's all go get hammered in The Awkward Silence Room.
:biggrin2:

Oh boy, I feel terribly guilty after reading this post.... I need to get out into my garden, it is not at all prepared for this coming vegetable season. (I had left it to the teenager because he owes me money--BIG mistake.)

Yesterday was gorgeous...70s or maybe 80s I didn't measure nor look, blue skies, sun...light breeze at times. Al at the lumber yard tells me yesterday...or wait now, it was Ross, anyway he tells me (maybe it was Al) we're s'posed to get 3" of rain today, torrential rain...and we are well on the way toward that goal. Looked at a radar picture, current and forecast, and it does not look like I will be getting any work done today. Oh kaka poopie. Shoulder is sore, lets me know when I reach a certain way...any way. Have heard a number of reports that we're scheduled for snow in September. Who made the schedule? Probably some temp or someone's child, parent left the system open, and here we are. Weather report on wimple-radio...low tonight around 42...mostly cloudy tomorrow, high tomorrow of 50...chance of a few showers. Right now there seems to be a lull...eaves are not dripping, or pouring like they had been at times. Could put some things in the truck and bring them out to Big Traverse...or...I could read. Or nap. Been up since 4 a.m. All caught up on paperwork...homework is another matter.

I do and very much so. I just thought we better get our jokes in about this coming winter ASAP because by Christmas (or earlier) we'll all be crying.
I was teasing but couldn't agree with you more. It may be why I've been stocking up like crazy on craft supplies somewhat like a squirrel storing nuts as I know I'll be spending a lot of time indoors so may as well have something to keep me occupied so my sanity doesn't slip and I start doing my Jack Torrance impersonation come February.

The winter forecast is … freezing. (Photo: Courtesy of the “Farmers’ Almanac”)

Do you remember last winter with its polar vortexes and continuous snow? Well, it looks like this winter might be more of the same.

The Farmers’ Almanac, which correctly predicted last winter’s frigid conditions, is saying that this year will be just as miserable. “Shivery and shovelry are back. We’re calling for some frigid conditions, bitter conditions,” said managing editor Sondra Duncan.

The 2014-2015 edition predicts that three-quarters of the nation will experience below-normal temperatures. The most frigid temps will be found from the Northern Plains to the Great Lakes. And if you’re planning a tropical vacation, you might want to schedule it for January through the beginning of February, when the frigid, arctic air will drop temperatures to 40 below 0 across the Great Lakes. “We are red-flagging the first 10 days of January and the first week of February along the Atlantic seaboard for active wintry weather featuring bouts of heavy precipitation and strong winds,” says Caleb Weatherbee, the official forecaster for the Farmers’ Almanac.

If you want a little relief, the Pacific Northwest and Southwest states are expected to receive normal precipitation. Here are a few places where you can escape once the snow starts falling.

No Michael's but there's an A.C. Moore and Hobby Lobby (although that's one I won't shop at). JoAnn's is my go-to store for a lot of those sorts of things, though, along with the local independent quilt shop. With my not being able to drive until mid-October I'd thought I'd save myself a lot of money but I've probably spent even more after getting bored and just going on-line for my ordering instead. My name is Marsha and I am a craftaholic....

You've just made a lot of craft supply retailers smile. ;-D

I hear you! Although I don't know what I'm going to do about my craft stash once I do. Hey, Triple O, you wouldn't want to put me in touch with your wife would you--do I have a deal for her! ;-D

:biggrin-new:

Well, she does the jewelry thing so I don't know.......

I see a few yard sales in your future. Don't forget to put NO EARLY BIRDS!! in the paper when placing your ads.

Oh, yeah, I've got an entire cabinet and pegboard filled with jewelry supplies and the books--oh, the books--at least a shelf and a half at last count and that's only because I shifted over to knitting and quilting and lately it's been weaving. My rationalization for all this hoarding is that I can buy the supplies now even though I don't have as much time to do them as I'd like but when I'm retired, I'll have the time and not the money so buy, baby, buy! Maybe your wife has the same philosophy. ;)
