The Darkside of the Moon (England really)
Raining today with a high of almost 70 degrees. WTH?
That kind of weather usually means thunder and lightning over here.
It is quite cold here - rabbit outside when I got up quite early this morning so I tossed him some nice whole wheat bread broken up in pieces and a few mini bran muffins - poor little thing looks so cold!
Aw, you're like the pigeon lady from home alone 2

Sweet and caring towards animals I mean.

It's okay - I don't mind the comparison - or the old lady from Mary Poppins?

I think you have been up too long blunthead ! - my two Siamese cats would make short work of the poor wee bunny!

Sorry to quote myself here, but my cats have never gone outside and they never will. That is one of the reasons too - Andy saw a rabbit with only three legs last winter - who knows how this happened? It may have been a cat or another predator but he said it was down to the bone!

Extreme Cold Warning for Southern Manitoba

We have an extreme cold weather warning for southern Manitoba here - it's minus 42 with the wind chill!

A period of very cold wind chills continues.

"A frigid Arctic airmass has settled over the Prairies. Extreme wind chill values of minus 40 to minus 45 are occurring throughout southern Manitoba including the Manitoba Lakes. Extreme wind chill values may ease a bit today as temperatures warm slightly but are expected to return again this evening and continue through Monday morning."

my cats are indoor boys. I had a squirrel come through my yard with one hand missing. Yes, how do they not bleed to death?

I do it just because it is better for wildlife (and for the cats, too!).

We do have a bylaw here and if cats are allowed to run at large you can get a live animal trap from the Humane Society, catch the cats and take them in to WHS.

Adopt a Dog, Adopt a Cat, Animal Welfare - The Winnipeg Humane Society

By the way, there are actually guidelines if someone is to trap a cat. There was a story on a site called "Craig Street Cat Rescue" where a woman had trapped a cat, covered the trap with a blanket and left it outside all night in minus 28 C weather!

I'd love to trap her in a cage and leave her outside in that.
