WE have hail going on now and the electricity just went off (and dinner is in the oven) I'm on battery backup with only a few minutes left. So, see ya later.

I'm back. That was a long power outage (5+ hours). The ziti had been in the oven long enough to finish cooking the last 15 minutes. I missed the Bates Motel, though.

Glad you're okay - we had two power outages recently - one the end of January and another beginning of March.

Like Mom used to say "You never miss the water until the well runs dry!"
(ooooh - will have to put that in the "Mom always used to say..." thread :cocksure:

Glad all is ok. Ck your battery supply!

Now that you mention that, let me give some advice to everyone reading this about buying new lanterns for emergency use. If you haven't bought any new battery lighting recently, you need to go out and buy new lanterns with LED lights. The reason being is that your batteries will last much much longer. For example, I replaced a classic Coleman florescent lantern with an LED version. The florescent lantern took 8 D batteries and would go about 20 hours. The LED lantern takes 4 D batteries and goes 125 hours.

There are many varieties and you will have to do a little digging around to find what is right for you. LED lighting is different than florescent and although LED lighting is super bright , the light does not spread like florescent does and you want to get good quality lanterns that have proper reflectors. That's why I say it takes a little looking around because LED lighting is very different and depending on what you are using the lantern for, different styles work better for different needs. But you can't beat the longevity of the LED in an emergency situation.

Totally agree about LED lights. Been replacing for use in tropical season. They are different, but you get used to them.
