thought I'd put this up to share any storm stories you might have and also to let everyone know you're ok if you live in Florida.

It looks like the heaviest stuff came in over night. For us in coastal Pinelllas it looks like rain was the main problem. We are as I type experiencing the tail end in a train alignment, so there is a ton of rain yet to come. I drained about 5 inches out of my pool, and it is overflowing now.mwhich means we got close to a foot of rain last night.

It's still too dark out to see what kind of damage happened, but the power didn't seem to have gone out, so it looks like at least in my immediate area we are ok.

How do you still have power? FPL shuts us down at 35 mph
Honestly don't know. Maybe because we are so coastal that this is a regular occurrence? Also we have Duke Energy here (formerly Progress Energy). So not sure. The winds aren't sustained. Even since I posted that, the wind almost stopped and the rain is light again. It's coming in waves about every 10 minutes or so.

Anything over on your side?

We don't have anything now but we have had heavy rain this past week as it went under us and we got some bands as it was moving up the Gulf. What we are going to experience today from the storm is a 96 degree day. That happens to us quite a bit when storms move past us, the heat gets drawn up from the South. So it's supposed to be 96 and very humid - ech.

And with this one, I have now survived 6 direct or nearly direct hurricane hits and 15 tornadoes in my life. Maybe I should become a storm chaser.... I do know the Great Plains area like the back of my hand....:eyebrow:

I have been in 4 hurricanes where the eye passed through. The eye from Frances lasted 8 hours! That was a blessing because in that 8 hours the town to the North of us got the crap kicked out of it.

I am so glad that you're all safe. I am worried about Spidey. She probably does not have power, if she could be on she would be.

If the sustained winds get too high, the power company will shut the power down for safety reasons. If that happens to Spidey, don't expect her to get power back right away. After the power company shuts power down, they will usually go out and physically inspect the areas they shut down before turning it back on. They look for downed lines or buildings that got damaged, etc. So if there is no problem with the lines, she could still be without power for a couple of days. I think Spidey is in a rural area too and unfortunately, those areas don't get power back as fast.

Thank you. I remember that scenario when we got the winds from Hurricane Ike. The power companies did all of the same inspections/repairs.......took forever.

No issues with the storm itself, but my transformer blew at 3:30AM. Totally without power and electric co has no idea when repairs can be made. Data limited, so I'll get back as I can. Cat is my contact, so ck with her.

Glad you are safe Hoss, and fljoe. Yep that one squall line was a dilly. You guys be safe.

Glad to hear you are safe. Was worried.
