Hoss, Spidey, Fljoe - glad you are all doing OK. Wanted to write sooner but figured the power would be out. We used to call it Florida flash and flicker especially when the wind blew. Got to admit - I DO NOT miss the storms but I wish we could get some of your rain. Be safe everyone. I'll be thinking of you.

All is the same at Spidey's place. I suggested calling a non-emergency police number or a hotline type number if one has been set up, she is not sure if power company is even aware, as she is only getting an automated system when she calls.

If anyone has any other suggestions I could pass along to her, that would be much appreciated!

I'm reasonably sure that they are aware - just overwhelmed. But she should call periodically until she gets through just to make sure. From what I can tell from the news, there are widespread outages but it's hard to find out any info for the rural areas like where she is.

She may be with a smaller electric company other than Florida Power and Light. The smaller ones are probably a little slower to respond in a big event than FPL.

Our electric company has a website with a map showing where outages have occurred and if the problem is being worked on. It also has a link for reporting outages. Maybe Spidey's electric company has a website?

Cat - ask Spidey if she is with FPL. I see on the FPL site that she can report the outage online. She needs her account number.

YAY! At least now she doesn't have to remember not to open the refridgerator door. When our power is out, I always forget and keep opening the fridge door lol.

It is sooo hard to leave the refrigerator door alone when you're without power. ;-D It's like putting a big red button in front of a kid and saying, "don't push this button." ;-D

Here in Tarpon Springs we've still had intermittent heavy rains and wind, but our street got no major damages. My BIL's brother in Palm Harbor has a large hole in his roof from a fallen branch, but luckily it's directly above the bathtub. Don't know about now, but all power was off along the sponge docks, and golf course is completely underwater.
