I just had an awful scare. Was getting RJ some food and could hear a helicopter. Couldn't see it but it was close. It circled back around though, it was the Flight for Life copter and it started going down in my kids' school parking lot. I thought. We are 2 blocks away. So I jumped in the car and drove by. (Yes, I did.)

It was in the parking lot, on the staff side and there was a fire truck there too. So I called. Said, "I'm calling to check on the kids." "What do you mean?" she said. "The flight for life copter just landed there," I said, thinking wtf what do I mean?!?!

"Oh! We're just having a celebration."

#@$&#*!!!! Maybe letting the parents in on a celebration that includes the Flight For Life copter would have been nice???? :facepalm_smiley:

I was panicked.

I guess most parents aren't that close to be able to see what is going on - so sorry to hear about your panic Cat :confused:

Have a hot cup of tea or whatever it is you take when you need to calm down.

Yeah - I agree - maybe a bit of a 'heads-up' would have been appropriate :)

So what was the deal, CAT? They bring the chopper in for show and tell? Certainly not to give the kids' rides without parental consent. That couldn't happen in this day and age.......oh wait!!

Hope you're calmed down now........:love_heart:
I have no idea. Not rides, I'm sure. Just a show and tell thing, I guess. All she said was a celebration. Last day of school related, probably.

It had my heart pumping, for sure. Didn't make me angry as much as just scared the beejeezus out of me. I guess I didn't realize they were allowed to take it out for fun. What if they need it? Of course, that is just me being my neurotic self. I just always get a heart-sinking feeling when I see it. Because it means someone is in bad shape somewhere.

I am still jumpy feeling. Want to eat something. ;-D

Hope your heart is back to normal now.

I can completely understand how you felt though. My youngest is allergic to insect bites and stings. Spring and fall are still nerve wracking for me, but when he was in primary I would jump whenever the phone rang.

One day the school called, and the secretary is just babbling incoherently. All I managed to understand were random words: "school yard" "hurt" "bite". I was trying to get her to slow down so I could understand, but she just kept babbling. Finally I yelled over her voice "DID YOU CALL AN AMBULANCE?". She goes completely silent, then says "I think that's a bit of an over reaction".

It turned out my four year old son had gotten fed up with being bullied daily and bit the kid that was bullying him.

Being bullied is the worst. I can totally relate to your kid. I'm glad that he bit him even though I probably shouldn't be.

The principal wasn't to impressed with my response either. I told him that he should never bite someone because he could catch something. Next time a bully won't stop....kick instead. (He had repeatedly told teachers, and said a teacher actually watched the kid hit and trip him at least once.)

I.AM.DONE!

The landlord is supposed to take care of our front lawn. They have one time thrown down grass seed...because I harassed them into it. But they literally just tossed it on top of hard soil, didn't even turn on water (I was not home), and did it right before a major storm was due. The grass seed washed away in under 24 hours.

So, last weekend, I bought seed and top soil. We spent a day loosening up the dirt, spread the seed and top soil. I have been watering and chasing birds away.

And today....this.

image.jpeg

That is roof tiles being thrown onto the seeded area. And that truck is blocking the walkway kids attending four different schools walk past, which means they will no longer be staying off the tied off area, they will rip it down and go right across my lawn.

Why does this landlord hate me? I pay my rent. No neighbours have ever complained on me. My kids have never caused damage. Why does he hate me?

Right?!?!

I asked the kids if they knew about it when they got home and just forgot to tell me. Because that would have figured. ;-D But no, they didn't know. The kids got to crawl all over inside and the guys answered their questions. They did give the principal a quick spin around in it too, before the end of the day. They spent all but the last hour of the day over there.
