I'm sorry Lin...am I understanding correctly that you are trying to coordinate appointments with your regular doc and the eye doc? If that's the case, I would see if your regular doctor's office will call the eye doctor and put a fire under his butt.

If I am misunderstanding and the eye dr is booked up, well it should be easy enough for them to call non-emergent patients and reschedule them in order to get you in, in the time frame the doctor wants. That's what they should be doing, and I think I would demand they do that.

Either way, I am sorry you are having more stress and worry piled on. You are the patient, you have a serious health matter you are trying to take care of, and they are supposed to accommodate YOU...especially in an emergency type situation.
All my appts. are with the eye dr. But he is a Retina specialists. Its all just driving me nuts. Apparently him and his staff are on two different levels. Not sure what the staff did or how but it ain't right.

I'm so frustrated. Companies charge more in Canada just because they can. They have excuses. It costs more to ship it here. It costs more to go through customs. But then, downloading an e-book (King's article on Guns is a good example) the price to download in Canada was DOUBLE. Just because.

Well, I was looking through some books I was considering downloading, and I thought the price seemed rather high. Considering with a download there is no shipping cost, no paper or ink, no customs, and you would presume less "middle men". Well, I would presume that anyway. So, $9.95 to download The Stand seemed a bit pricey. I checked the price for a brand new paperback version of the same book. It was $9.45.

These publishers are really ticking me off.

I hear what you're saying, but it's not completely on the publisher as the retailer chooses what to charge. The publishers have a "suggested" retail price and what the end retailer charges is up to them. They may have decided to take a lower profit margin on one over the other.

I don't even care who's to blame anymore. I bought a Kobo figuring it would be cheaper to buy books. But it is not. I even researched before buying. Kindle doesn't have as many books available in Canada as Kobo. And the Kobo reader was cheaper. And the books were cheaper. Then, when you have invested....they go in for the kill.

Thinking they must be run by the wonderful people at MaBell. They give a good price, sign a contract and WOOPS THERE IT IS. A price hike.

I want a desert island. Just for me.

I just got on Medicare this past February. They started taking out $104.90 from my social security money to pay the part b medical. I called back then to see what could be done about this not being taken out of my money. They took that money for February, March, and April.
I got reimbursed for one month. I called this morning to find out about the other 2 months, and was told I would only get the $104.90 for the one time. so I have a call into my local Medicare office, and am awiting a call back about this. Man, they sure can take it quickly, but don't want to give it back when a person is entitled to it. GRRRRRRRR!! :rage:

They charge us more in Canada because they can. None of the reasons are valid. It just like you can't drive down to the States to buy a car that is selling for a cheaper price than here.

I am not a happy bunny today as I discovered that as I do not reside in the U.S of A, I am "barred" from entering SK's Mr Mercedes Sweepstakes!:what:
Can't take part too!:doubt:
Hey Ms. M. Maybe the King Empire could open an office outside the U.S. where us aliens can get some swag. I can man the puter. I already have a good handle picked out. EMOD. ;)

In my job, I have to try on purpose to squash every feeling I ever had because we'd get in trouble if we showed any emotion.
That causes patients to accuse me outright of not giving a damn about them because I'm not getting upset along with them as something happens, or not as upset as they think I should, and the families of patients are even more intense about it because they're not preoccupied with whatever illness or trauma has demanded their attention so that emotional well-being takes a back seat to physical recovery.

What would they like me to do? Fall apart like I did two days after the call we received that came in as "a pregnant woman was shot in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting between two unrelated parties." (unrelated to the gunshot victim, she lived in a neighborhood that has gangs in it.) They had to tell us the particulars because we need to take precautions when entering a scene like that one.
I have no idea why the call discombobulated me so much that when I finally started crying about it I lost my ability to handle it in any "appropriate" way, whatever the word means in this instance. IDK if it's because I saw the NRA's commercial blaming people who advocate for SENSIBLE gun laws on all of it (I'm one of those people too, bc I act on my anger instead of REact) or if it was because an innocent person and an 8-mths along fetus) lost their life to Wayne LaPIERRE'S insensitivity or if it's because it's the first time I've ever seen this happen (lost a pregnant woman and her viable baby to gun violence; willful violence.) I just know I got furious at Wayne LaPierre's ridiculous nerve and decided that now he said something like that - or signed his name to it - I'll never stop fighting against anything he says from here until eternity. I'll never trust him again nor believe he ever cared about ANYone except his damn stupid self.
He crossed an invisible line and went too f'ing far when he did that inane crap, and if he keeps doing things like that he's going to bury himself all by himself. Nobody from without is going to destroy him. The man in the mirror is already on the job full time, as our Senior Paramedic said in our Critical Incident Meeting. Then I think he muttered that the guy's "an *******."
After certain incidents we have a meeting called Critical Incident Debriefing so we can talk about any feelings that arise from what we see. We have a professional therapist who comes to the meetings but all the people affected by the incident come too.
