I am happy today because I was able to read like the old me. The last year, I've had trouble reading--focusing, concentrating, enjoying the act of reading. I've always read at least 30-40 books a year, usually having a fiction and nonfiction going at the same time. This year, I've finished ONE book. Very frustrating, as you can imagine.

Then, this week, I decided to watch two King movies with my son to try to get him interested...The Shawshank Redemption and Misery, both of which he loved. After we watched Misery, I showed him my old beat up novel which I last read about 12 years ago. When he went back to his video games, I opened the book up and began reading. I couldn't stop. I read and read and read and finished it in two days. I felt like a part of me, which had been missing
(a foot, perhaps? :) )
was reattached and back to normal.

So I guess I owe another thank you to Mr. King for helping me read like my old self again. Gerald's Game (my favorite King novel) is in my carry-on bag for my flight today! I'm happy about reading and happy about going to see someone I've not seen for a while! :) :) :)

Good thing you didn't bring The Langoliers to read on your flight.......

The last few times I used my sewing machine pieces fly off at me. While this can be amusing, it is not very helpful with my sewing.

Then, I was given an old machine which I got serviced, and I'm not to happy with it at all.

So, I mentioned to my husband that I would like a new sewing machine. Maybe for my birthday or Christmas. When we went out Sunday he insisted we look at some. I checked the ones we looked at on-line and neither has good reviews, so I started doing some searching and picked one I think I'd like.....and it's cheaper than the others.

It's a Brother CP6500. (If anyone has it I'd be interested in your opinion, positive or negative.)

This is the machine.

It was a rough night last night here. Hubby is on nights, had to sit up to watch the sprinkler and then after just barely getting to sleep around 11, Ali is tap tap tapping on my shoulder to tell me the police are in our backyard with flashlights. (They weren't, but there were flashing lights, they were on the next street up. We have apparently traded one bunch of crazies from across the street to some directly behind us. 3 times in the last week there have been police there, one of those times because we called them. The guy was cutting through our yard and Scott told him this was private property, don't walk through our yard. The guy completely flipped out and threw a patio chair over his 6 ft tall privacy fence clean down in the middle of our yard and then it was a shouting match. He now has a trespass warning against him. I tell you I do not know what is happening around here.)

Anyway, after watching that whole situation it was after midnight by the time I got back to bed. Then awake at 2, coughing my head off, because I just keep getting sick. I think it was after 4 by the time I fell asleep again. Up a little before 6.

So after all that I am happy that I managed to get myself a nice hot shower before all the babies arrive for the day. I almost feel like a human being right now. :encouragement:

Ugh! I hate when that happens. Try to take it easy today.
