Happynervous. I interviewed for a job yesterday, was offered the job today, and start tomorrow. Wasn't expecting the process to move so quickly! I haven't had a real, 'have to be somewhere at a certain time and work a certain number of hours EVERY DAY' job in 19 years. Worrisome in one respect, but heres to hoping that easing a bit of financial worry will off set that :)
:m_flowerhead::m_spin:That's me doing a happy dance for you!! Wonderful news! Good luck - I know they're going to love you, so here's hoping you love them too!! I'm beyond thrilled for you.

Ooh how exciting! Mind if I ask what your new occupation is? Good luck and I hope you have a great first day!
Not at all!I THOUGHT I was going to be listening to little kids read and helping them along, which sounded fine. Turns out that the job is WAY more intense than that. I'm working with the testing and intervention department, so the days are absolutely packed. Testing is a biggie, to see which kids need which interventions. After that is established, I'll have certain kids that I will work with intensively, tracking their progress. In addition, we all have a couple of hours where we are assigned to a certain teacher, so we do whatever they need done at that time. Recess and lunch room duty a couple of days a week, as well. SO. Busy busy all day. I'm looking forward to it!

This is a perfect job for you and I would feel very confident as a parent that my child was in good hands!

Happy because one of the worst neighbours I've ever had moved out.

When I saw him having a lawn sale, I hoped it meant he was leaving. Then I saw him with a friend (he has friends?) with a car taken apart and blocking several cars from being able to get in or out if their parking spaces, and I figured he must be moving because the superintendent wasn't out screaming at him.

Then, Friday I saw him loading a moving truck....and taking the furniture out if his house.

So we celebrated with cake.

Thank you, DJ :) Three days in, I'm finding it very interesting. At one time, I had aspirations to be a Special Ed teacher, so this is nice. I like kids and kids with disabilities don't scare me, so it's a nice fit. So far, it's been a lot of testing, but that's necessary to pinpoint what interventions will work best for each individual child. Once we have 'our' kids assigned, I'm confident that it will be even better. I'll be working with K-3, and I already have a few little buddies who rush in for hugs :)

I used to do a lot of volunteer work at a k-5 school and some years it included working one on one or small group with ld kids. I loved it. I would have loved to properly train and make a career or it, but with budget cuts here, getting hired would have been near impossible. But I really enjoyed the work, and I still know some of those kids....they are in college now. My part may have been small, but it was a part.

Such a rewarding job you've got. :)
