I'm happy because found out that on September 9th, and 10th there is going to be the annual pow-wow in my area!
I never knew when they were, but I have found a site that lists them all.
It will be my first one, and I'm excited!
I hope to see a hoop dancer, and I want to see the jingle dress dance.
Each dance has a meaning, and I hope I learn a few things.
I want to try the fry bread that they make also!!Hope to see some young men that look like this!!

I came across info about NaMeRes PowWow. This is an annual 3 day PowWow. This year it is at Fort York. I thought that sounded wrong...spoke to dil she is native and very active in the community. She starts telling me about why it IS a very appropriate place for a PowWow. I held up my hand to interrupt her and said "they are always in period costumes there" .... silence .... Think about it...time period....FN in native clothing, and soldiers with muskets.

She laughed (at me). Said for the PowWow they do not have people walking around in the costumes.

Yesterday hubby and I took one year old granddaughter to Ripley's Aquarium. We took the GoTrain downtown. Granddaughter was a bit nervous getting on the train and spent most of the ride making a sound like "wow".

Inside the aquarium she would not allow us ton put her down. It was dark and crowded and she was scared....but in our arms she was completely amazed. There is an area with a moving sidewalk and you are basically going through a tunnel with fish and sharks all around and above you. I joked she was going to get whiplash she was looking everywhere....and loving it.

She always makes animal sounds....and could not figure out what sounds fish make. Mostly she oohed and awed or said "hi". Then she saw the sea horses....and neighed.

Heading home, we ended up one train earlier than we planned, which was good. I'm betting the one we planned, rush hour would have started. So, anyway, the train stops and we walk towards the nearest door. A lady looks at us, makes some weird noise of disgust and heads to the door of a different train. (Granddaughter was not crying or fussing.) We get in the train, and there is a single person at every set of four seats. I pick a window seat because baby loved looking out the window. The woman sitting in that section makes a disgusted sound, gathers all her stuff and changes seats. (This one might have been less insulting than it appeared. I think she made a business call.) Anyway, the people who were "stuck" close to us spent the train ride smiling and laughing. One took out her earphones to hear the baby chatter. And it was just quiet chatter, not loud at all.

Anyway, it was a fabulous day and that aquarium is awesome.

We had such a weirdly normal morning today. I cleaned out my gutters while my girlfriend and my son grilled burgers and hot dogs, her son was taking a nap. I was up on my ladder and looked down and just kind of watched both of them for a few minutes as Tamara was trying to show my son when to flip the burgers and they were both laughing. She looked up at me, smiled, and asked what I was staring at?

"I don't know. Maybe a second chance." I said not knowing if she'd understand that or not.

She smiled again and said "Me too, babe. Hurry up the burgers are just about ready.

I started looking for a low flying comet to knock me off the ladder but so far it hasn't happened. Maybe this is what the beginning of healing feels like. I just don't know. Everyone have a good weekend. Stay safe.

When you die let's hope it's not on a ladder, lol. With or without the auspice of shooting comets, here's to bright days ahead.
