"O God! Methinks it were a happy life
To be no better than a homely swain,
To sit upon a hill as I do now,
To carve out dials quaintly, point by point,
Thereby to see the minutes how they run:
How many makes the hour full complete,
How many hours brings about the day,
How many days will finish up the year,
How many years a mortal man may live."
-William Shakespeare

Our oldest got some great news. He has worked for the school district for the last 5 or so years. Started as a para with special needs kids, which he loved but when RJ arrived, he moved into the maintenance department, for the opportunity to make more money to support his family.

The last 8 months or so he has been doing his regular job plus training under the locksmith to take over when the current locksmith retires. The guy hand picked Brandon to take over but there was no clear retirement date set...until last week. He decided that he would retire at the end of this week.

Brandon still had to go through the application and interview process but he was named the official replacement late yesterday. He has to take a certification class but that is just a formality...He will be lead man for that department and it comes with a $5/hour raise.

Great news for his little family and we're all proud of him for working so hard.

Wow - that's great - very handy to have a locksmith in the family - you must be proud of him :joyous:

This is fantastic! Continued blessings for you and your family. Brandon sounds like a hard worker, glad it's paying off (literally). ;)

Wow Sunny, love their music.....Luckily no pictures from back in the day but I've got a really funny story about a concert in Little Rock, AR back in 1994. Drivin' N' Cryin', Bad Company, .38 Special, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Concert started at something like 4pm and didn't get finished until around midnight. We had all piled into a friend of mine's Chevy K5 Blazer to drive down there that afternoon. There were 8 of us, a tight fit even in a tank like that. By the end of the night we were doing rock, paper, scissors to see who was going to drive us all home, well, most of us were, no me, because I was incapable of getting off the ground long enough to participate...lol. I remember "Bear", one of my good friends that was along for the ride, telling everyone that whoever was able to find the Blazer should drive because none of us could remember how far out in the Riverfront Ampitheater parking lot we'd parked..lol....long story short, we found the Blazer, sat around for a couple more hours partying with people in the parking lot then found a motel outside of Little Rock to crash at for the night. I was at that invincible age of 21 and discovered when I got back into town that apparently I also forgot to close the door to my apartment on my way out the day before. The very old, run-down apartment I lived in had a door that was hard to shut and I guess I didn't shut it completely on my way out because it was partially open when I got home. Surprisingly, nothing was gone out of my apartment...except my cat, "Trip". He was gone, no sign of him whatsoever, never to be seen again by anyone around the apartment building I lived in. I remember thinking "I'll check around for him later" then collapsing on my bed and being oblivious for the next 12 hours...lol. I do miss my college days sometimes...lol.

I'm happy because it's cold and yucky out and I don't need to go out until around noon today, when hopefully by that time the weather will have settled down a bit.

I posted this in the Jealous of the Big Threads thread, but I think I'll post it here, too (just because I find it to be a bit bizarre):

Somewhere over the rainbow
I've been on a diet and I lost a little weight.
Friends and family have told me that I'm looking great.
I appreciate the compliments but can't agree...
Mirror in the bathroom tells a different tale to me.

Numbers on the bathroom scale say I've lost 60 pounds
But the mirror still reflects the way my belly rounds
Into folds of flab and fat - a sad and saggy gut...
'though I must admit I'm not as wide around the butt.

Didn't know how bad things were; I never looked before.
Makes me wonder how I got my fat ass through the door.
I may not be happy - yet - with what the mirror shows
But, at last, I don't need one of them to see my toes.

A little weight?! ;-D Congratulations on the 60 pound weight loss and hope the saggy parts tone up so you'll be happy looking in the mirror. :smile2:

Congratulations!

I figure if I start soon maybe I’ll look better for the King Kong :shame_pig:

You must feel better health wise.

I tried the Weight Watchers Freestyle recently and my weight stayed exactly the same the first week :cry_pig:

I got a bit discouraged after that :eat_pig:

Oh by the way - sorry to post all these piggy smilies - they just seemed to be the funniest :yes_pig:

Time to go get ready for my course - must run :run_pig:

....I'm just gonna be the same old fat sour puss I've always been.....
Oh good - we'll share a lobster roll, followed by a whoopie pie for dessert :chew:

;;D

I am happy today because my son is out back chipping away at all the snow the snow plow deposited in front of our garage last night - left a big hard windrow that is hard to get over.

I bought him a digital watch as his old one finally broke. It's a delayed birthday present (his B-day was in February) :biggrin2: He's a good guy
