...because my wife and I had a nice vacation. We experienced first class...luck of the draw...us and several other couples...seats were open, charter, so that's what they did. Drew names out of a hat. I'm thinking, okay, leg room...great. We're fifteen minutes into the flight and the attendant notices my wife reaching for our carry-on, snacks inside. Put your snacks away, he says, we'll be bringing you out all kinds of food. So that's what she did and they did...brought out cheese and crackers, real butter knife to cut the cheese, real plates...then, they bring out a steak sandwich and a salad, garlic bread to go w/it. We said we'd share one...wife ate the salad, I had the sandwich...then...dessert...cake on a plate...layered cake. Yum. A bit later he's passing by with these little white wash-clothes...hot, damp...so you can mop your forehead after eating...scrub your armpits. Pat your wrists? I've no idea what real first class passengers do. A bit later he's in the aisle again, this time with a couple bottles of wine. Passed on the wine...but on the flight home, since the drinks were free, I had a few beers...managed to catch up on some reading...and we only bounced twice, maybe three times, landing. I hate when that happens.

My daughter and I got "bumped" up to Business World Class on a flight from England back to the states several years ago.....Holy Cow. Similar experience - loved those hot wash cloths! Last time I flew (back from the Kon), my sister and I were squished in the back two seats, opposite the bathroom, sucking in engine fumes, feet freezing from the air conditioning, trying not to throw up.........

I'm happy. My workweek is over. I have no aches or pains in my back for the first time in weeks, no headache. Radiation this time has me back to wearing head scarfs for a little while, but that's okay as this time I didn't have so much hair to lose, lol. This is the best I've felt in a while, and I'm just so thankful to have gained two more pounds this week and get some of my long lost energy back. Life's good!
That is WONDERFUL! You Got THIS!

...because...and if you are Shasta or if you, like her, are disturbed by the cycle of life and death of animals, you do not want to open the spoiler:
...because I've had a successful deer hunt. I tagged a buck earlier this morning with my cross-bow...from a stand 25' up a hemlock tree, a 30-yard shot quartering away. He ran/lived for 5 seconds of less after I place my crossbow bolt. And then the work began. After hanging my bow on the stub of a branch, I sat back against the tree and waited for my pulse-rate to calm. I was confident that I'd find him close...I've hunted for over 20 years, have been successful for each of those years...and I've also learned from hard experience that it pays to relax and take things a step at a time.

Anyway, I tracked him to where he lay, mourned briefly for the loss of his life and thanked God above for the meat that will go into our freezer...then I took off several layers of hunting apparel and began to field dress him. Some standing water nearby helped to clean up once that process was done. I walked back to my truck, stored my cross bow and some clothing, dug a rope out from behind the seat, and went back to drag him the 100 yards or so to the truck. Once he was in the bed, I called a man I know out Bootjack, Paul, a retired carpenter and an active butcher, asked if I could bring out a buck, he said yes, so that's what I did.

I'm having two hindquarters smoked and cut into lunch-meat for sandwiches...I'm having 6 sticks of sausage made--3 of summer sausage and 3 of what Paul calls Country Sausage...various ingredients mixed with cheddar cheese, and the remainder will be cut into butterfly steaks (from the back-strap) and burger.

...because I'm on my second plate of "pasty-filling"...wife had the day off (Veteran's Day) but I didn't and she fixed the stuff you put in pasties...only w/o a crust...in a roaster pan. The Cornish are credited with "bringing over" the pasty...and copper miners here in what was once known as "The Copper Country" shared this dish w/other nationalities who went underground to mine the copper. They'd heat their pasty on a shovel, I'm told...the first "micro-waves"? Or was that an open fire and a forked stick? Anyway, it is composed of potatoes, rutabaga, carrots, onion, venison burger...all cut up into cubes...some spices. The pasty is folded into a crust...but you can bake the ingredients in a roaster pan and it is delicious. Yum. Pull up a chair and a plate.

My hubby from over the pond loves these little pastry things you're describing. He likes Scotch meat pies, too. Your version sounds really good too

My copy of Maximum the Hormone's Bu-ikikaesu came in today. I paid a bit much for it, but I think it is worth it. It is my first ever Japanese CD. Unfortunately, I can't read Japanese worth a darn. At least I can read the lyrics of German bands because they use a similar alphabet to English. Not so much with Japanese. Good thing there is Google, though. :m_thumbsup:
